A NEW BREED OF EPIC
If you found yourself trapped in Hell, how much of your soul and humanity would you be willing to trade in exchange for passage out? Perdition is based in the classical underworld setting described by Virgil, only set in the present day and age of the 21st century. The player must follow in the footsteps of explorers such as Odysseus as he explores deeper and deeper into the nine circles of Hell. Perdition will force the player to question some very basic assumptions, not only about how games are supposed to work, but about the nature of choice, agency, and what it is to be considered human.
ABOUT THE GAME
Perdition is a side-scrolling action adventure title that offers players not only a proven platform for solid gameplay, but also introduces them to an amazing artistic experience fully rendered in 2.5d through lush watercolor backgrounds. The game aims to create an immersive experience that adapts to accommodate the individual play style of the user, presenting them with landscapes and characters that shift the deeper they descend into the abyssal reaches of Hell. What separates the game that we want to make from so many others is that the focus in our game is not upon the gameplay as much as it is the player's experience, moment by moment, of the game as a whole – the music, the art, and the story. We don’t rely on a linear story progression, or even a simple “good vs. evil” story branch: every character action, decision, jump, or attack will help define who you are and shape your experience with the game. The story will build off of your decisions of where to explore, but it will also evolve based on your personal method and style of gameplay.
Our goal for Kickstarter to earn enough funding to be able to produce a prototype of Perdition that we can use to present to game publishers for launch with digital distribution platforms such as Xbox Live Arcade. What we need your immediate help on is funding to acquire the various software licenses necessary to get this project off on the right foot.
