In attempt to cheer others up, disaster and chaos ensue as our heroine, Bandit, scurries to save the day.
When a little boy drops his ice cream he is completely distraught. Our heroine, Bandit, comes to the rescue causing disaster, literally stopping at nothing to cheer him up.
Bandit is inspired by the 1930's era of film. The timeless, slapstick comedy routines of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton played an enormous role in the character development of our heroine, Bandit. She seeks to cheer up a world of saddened friends and grumpy grownups with her larger than life routines. Her honest attempts to make others laugh always get her into trouble, earning her a reputation as a Bandit around the town, unintentionally causing trouble wherever she goes.
We hope to pay tribute to Chaplin and Keaton by creating a short that is timeless, comical and charming.
McKenna Daniel: Producer/Writer/Director: She grew up in Texas, coming from a family of entertainers. She is currently finishing her MBA in Film Producing and has worked on numerous short films including Project Callisto and The Visitor. Some of her favorite movies are It's a Wonderful Life and Indiana Jones. She not only understands story, but the business elements necessary to make beautiful and authentically true entertainment.
Will Armstrong: Producer/Production Designer: Originally hailing from Chicago, Will Armstrong recently made the jump from stage to screen, bringing with him 10 years’ experience in Stage Design. With several Art & Design credits under his belt, he is excited to bring the nostalgia and whimsy of Bandit to life on screen. His favorite film is Raiders of the Lost Ark and his favorite short is either Marcel the Shell with Shoes On or Henri.
Maria Mitchell: Producer: Maria Mitchell is currently pursuing her MBA in film producing and has just wrapped production on the WW2 short film, Frohe Ostern which she served on as a producer. She has a passion for telling stories with heart that explore themes of beauty, truth and goodness and hopes to do just that with Bandit. She looks forward to combining her knowledge from both classroom and set in order to bring this charming short film to life on the big screen.
From our Director, McKenna Daniel:
My dad is a movie fanatic, so it's no wonder that I am now a filmmaker. I was inspired by the simple and brilliant humor in Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton films. We were studying Chaplin and Keaton in class when I frantically began scrawling my vision for Bandit. The subtle invasion of personal space was often key to their comedy routine. That’s where Bandit came to life, from a love of old movies and a curiosity of how to really make people laugh.
I'm the girl who used to walk around the house singing, "Make em laugh, make em laugh" from Singing in the Rain.
It’s the same gag we’ve seen a million times; pulling a hanky from a pocket that grows into a chain of colored hankies. I just want to show that classic old-time humor is always funny and charming.
Your donation at any amount will go directly to the production costs of this short film. Everything from location, lodging and travel expenses down to catering and equipment rentals. Costumes, makeup and set design also play a huge role within the art department to create the look and feel of our movie. We also will be casting in LA and hiring actors who must be paid each day on set. All these departments add up rather quickly and since we are just getting our start in the business we are seeking donors to help us fund this project so we can make a start in this competitive industry.
We know that when you give us a donation, you are donating because you believe in us and our story. We could never thank you enough for your trust and support, but would still like to show a small sign of our deep gratitude through our rewards.
Check out our rewards page and see what perks come with each donation amount.
Our whole team loves stories. We want to make you laugh. We want to show you how to see like a child. We want to make films that are true, good, and beautiful.
When we have a completed Bandit, we will enter into film festivals. We hope that through festivals, Bandit will be shared and possibly picked up for further development.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The main challenge in front of us is raising enough money to go into production. It's amazing how quickly things add up but with your help and generosity we can overcome this challenge and create a film that warms your heart. After that the biggest hurdle will be editing it in time for our premiere in September. The clock is definitely ticking, but when isn't it? We have a fantastic team through which to accomplish all this and we can not wait to show you the final product.
