About this project
Alike in Dignity is a short film that I'm making as part of the thesis project for my Master's degree. I live in Lubbock, TX and my school is in San Francisco. My classes are all online, which is nice, but I don't have access to all of the equipment that I would if I actually lived in San Francisco. So I've decided to start a project here on Kickstarter.
The script is done, I co-wrote it with a friend of mine named Tim Kuhn and we want to film this July. A guy named Daniel P. Ballard (not me, my middle initial is W.) will be directing. It's the story of a young man, who just so happens to be a superhero, and a young woman, who just so happens to be a supervillian, that fall in love. When they decide to get married they also decide it's time to finally meet each others families. The problem is his family are all superheroes and hers are all supervillians.
We've already got a pretty good idea about the cast, except for a few of the smaller roles. The money raised will go towards the cost of creating the superhero costumes needed, all the food that will be needed (the two major scenes take place around Thanksgiving and Christmas) as well as food for the cast and crew, props and set dressings and locations.

Daniel Ballard is a filmmaker and photographer working on his master's in film from the Academy of Art University based in San Francisco. His emphasis is editing, but he's done it all when it comes to making movies. He's made a bunch of short films, music videos and has completed one feature length film, A Zero Green Movie III. He should be graduating in December of 2010 but still has a few films to make before he can get his degree. Hopefully this site will help him reach that goal.
