About this project

When the voice said-"If you build it, he will come."
Ray was given a vision of what he needed to do- and he didn't skimp.
He didn't cut corners, he didn't try to pass off a mediocre baseball diamond.
He also didn't let the rest of his crops fail either.

I thought that the pursuit of a dream meant that I had to sacrifice some things to make it happen. This is both true and false because sacrifice is at times needed; but I sacrificed the wrong things.

I was misguided in the pursuit of my dream and created an imbalanced life in the process. I didn't correctly value the richness of life nor the true costs of my actions.

Everything suffered as a result. Although I wrote the script for this movie to give it the greatest chances of success, I missed one glaring problem...

Me.

I am simply not quite ready. I can shoot, edit, conceive, yet, can I truly weave all of it together with a story into the tapestry of a movie?

Perhaps I can, but I haven't proven it yet.

I rushed myself. I set arbitrary deadlines. I was trying to prove other people wrong. I fell for the bogus idea that I had to "suffer" to be a film maker... bull.

I need to do anything and everything to bring it to pass, but I also have an incredible life that shouldn't suffer- that's just not good enough.

That was what has been nagging me since I Launched this project on Kickstarter. Something was wrong- but I couldn't figure it out.

Then all at once, it hit me: I lowered my standards to "good enough".

Mediocrity had found a place in my life and how dare I allow it sanctuary?

The execution of this project was sloppy;
the initiation of this project was lacking;
the conception of this project was inadequate.

I allowed things like fear, stress, desperation, escape and pride be motivation.

I had forgotten about Passion-Truth-Love...

"To Thine Own Self Be True."

I cannot approach my dream with an "Either Or" attitude- I can not force it into existence. But, I can prepare a life that my dream can grow out of.

When Sam and Frodo approached the Black Gate and saw they could not use it to enter into Mordor, their aim did not change. Mt. Doom was their destination and another route was needed, but they did not know this until they were face to face with their obstacle.

I am a storyteller. Whether or not I make a movie, this will never change. I have many stories to tell. I also have a life to live well while telling those stories. It is my destiny, etched in my soul.

I had forgotten that.

I may come here again, but now is not that time.
