About this project

There is a need for a good fun story, about a modern dragon who has a job, and works with other people that are different colors, have different backgrounds, different talents and skills and even challenges. Adult-wise, this is for all of us that ended up standing along the  gymnasium wall at the eighth grade dance; because we were "different", and hadn't discovered that we are all different. Children-wise, may they grow up knowing that we are all our own being, and the same in our being unique and different. Sometimes, it is our differences that we perceive as our downfall, that is actually our strengths.

We, Laura Reynolds and I, strongly believe that this book needs to make it's way into the hands of as many people as possible. Therefore, we need it published and promoted at all three levels: Hardcover for the collectors, Paperback for the book readers and eBook for immediate international internet sales.

I have been working with a publishing house that will fill those goals with the funding.

Appearances and signings will be available from funds of sales of the book, art and through other agreements; but we really look forward to someday meeting a lot of you; our original backers.

A side note about the picture framing: Laura and I are both picture framers. She is in Kentucky, and I'm in Oregon. Our major editor was Mar Penner-Griswold, the owner of State of the Art - frame shop and cat adoption center, in Buffalo, NY and a dear framer friend who has been at this craft as long as I have. Some of the first test readers, have been other picture framers on three continents.

So; now you know why this book (the first fun novel ever about a picture framer and a frame shop) is so important to us, that we want to make it available for independent picture framers around the world, to be able to retail it in their stores to their customers and friends.

FAQ

  • Certainly, as many as you need. The way we are publishing will make it available through all of the usual sources of book, and also through any local independent custom picture frame shop.

  • Once the project is funded, and we start the publishing process; we will be making that information available to any and every picture framer we can reach. They can also reach us here through Kickstarter for more information.

  • Not to sound like a whiny little kid in the back seat.... but Laura started it. She drew the picture of Tink in the mug . . . we just didn't know where it was going to lead us.

And, we're pretty happy where we have followed the little guy so far . . .

  • Actually, the names are all very common names . . . for dragons.

OK, the truth; sometimes the picture came first, and sometimes it was a name that just fell out of my fingers at 3:30 in the morning. Some of the names, are almost the same as some common names . . . but as to who they are has no relation to any human or dragon . . .or so my dragon lawyer says.

As for Duff the Pixie; I grew up in the forest, "Duff" was a term I learned and loved since I could crawl in the stuff.

  • If it's at all feasible, one or both of us probably might. And then you can always be watching the events like Dragon Con, Fantasy Con and such; Laura Reynolds is an already know exhibitor.

  • Yes; Laura Reynolds 2D & 3D art is available through many venues. She is an internationally recognized, award winning fantasy artist who is often a vendor at many of the conventions, such as FantasyCon, WorldCon, DragonCon and ComicCon. Her work is also available through her web-site http://www.prism-studios.org and will eventually be available through our websitehttp://www.theverylittlestdragon.com . You can contact her through both to arrange commission work.

  • Except when a big old oaf of a baer drops him on a concrete sidewalk, and he has to be rushed to the "hospital" in Kentucky; he, Boomer and Guff reside somewhere on or in my mantle in Oregon.

  • The Paws & Claws Atelier is a picture frame shop that is as filled with potential stories as any local custom picture frame shop is full of ways to frame your favorite picture. But, it all depends on you and your help. If you help make this book come to life with your pledge, and get others to do the same, there is every reason for there to be many more stories flying or walking their way out of the Atelier.

I just spoke to Laura, and she said that she is ready. I just checked my computer and limbered up my fingers, so I'm ready. The crew of characters in the shop, are ready; so now it is in your hands.

  • Yes, I have been asked that. And actually, I kind of liked the question; because it didn't entail a fancy car or new boat or some other frivolity.

For Laura, it would mean that she can rebuild her aviary in her backyard, and once again throw her name in the ring to rescue raptors; something she has been doing selflessly for over 25 years. (I'll probably kick in some also.) When she has a bird or birds, she has gotten them used to being with her, in crowds, so that she can take them around to school. Once the kids see an eagle with only one wing because someone that it was cool to shoot it, they are forever changed.

As for me; it's all about writing. Both my books, and for the kids that I tutor/help, who are budding writers. (I can hear Mar wailing from 3,500 miles away), Mar, I'm just helping them find their voice; not their punctuation and spilling. ;-)
