Hi Friends!

It's been a while, but we are so very thrilled to let you guys know whats been going on! Since IFP it's been a whirlwind, with meetings, script rewrites and casting. Emily and Tati are now in New Mexico visiting all of our incredible locations, chatting with local businesses and schools and making the rounds with folks who might be interested in getting involved with the film. It's gorgeous here, the stars go on forever and the snow is just touching the peaks of the mountains - such a relief from NY! It's hard to imagine why so few films have been shot in this incredible valley. 

We also wanted to announce that Laura Heberton, producer extraordinaire, has signed on as our incredible Executive Producer. Laura met the team at IFP (thanks IFP!!) and felt that the story was so unique and special that she just had to join the effort to bring it to life. Laura has recently produced/executive produced a number of award-winning, critically-acclaimed features by emerging talent: Matthew Porterfield's I Used to Be Darker (Sundance and Berlin 2013); Lance Edmands's forthcoming Bluebird (a two-time SFFS/KRF grant recipient); Jonathan Lisecki's Gayby (SXSW 2012); Andrew Neel's King Kelly (SXSW 2012) and Andrew Semans's Nancy, Please (Tribeca 2012). We're so thrilled to have her join our team and excited for what the next few months will bring. 

In the meantime, are you in New Mexico? Would you like to get involved with Baby Lu beyond Kickstarter? We'd love to meet you! Let us know or if you have any suggestions for places to visit, we'll happily make the time.

We are excited to be reporting from IFP's Independent Film Week. We are so lucky to be a part of this incredible opportunity to meet Film Industry professionals, filmmakers from across the country and participate in the many informative panels and discussions.

One of the coolest things we learned this week is about an organization called TUGG which allows the audience to organize screenings of films they want to see at local theaters. Absolutely amazing! So that means once Baby Lu is completed, no matter what distribution deals we get, you all can organize screenings in your community. Check it Out: www.tugg.com

NEXT STEPS: Being at IFP has been a great oppertunity to meet with possible Executive Producers, Investors, Casting Directors, and Talent Agencies. We are excited to see what steps we can take coming out of this week and it's been a great start.

Dear Baby Lu Family,

Thanks to you all Baby Lu continues to grow and develop and  it has been getting more and more attention. Yesterday we were Indiewire's project of the day and now Baby Lu is up for Indiewire's for project of the week! 

If Baby Lu gets the most votes we win a digital distribution consultation with SnagFilms, and the Project of the Month winner (to be decided later) will receive a creative consultation with the Tribeca Film Institute!

We did it! We made our goal and it's all thanks to you! We are overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. The feeling of having 482 and counting people put their love into this fundraiser and get behind us is incredibly inspiring. We want to promise you that we'll do the best we can, work the hardest we can, and make the strongest film possible! Without each one of you, we would not have been able to make it!

For those of you that donated $25 plus on the 17th for our special Baby Lu Mug, you will be contacted for your shipping info or drop off info. For all those that donated $25 plus from the 18th on, your name will be entered in our a random drawing to be selected for the "Five for Five: The Films of Spike Lee" book signed by Spike Lee.We will announce the lucky winner within 48 hrs!

Donations are tax deductible! Donors will receive a receipt after December 31st, 2012 from Localogy stating the amount of the donation for your records. Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding your donation.

We can't put into words how grateful we are. This has truly been an adventure but we're so excited to keep on moving forward!
