John & I (Christine) love everything about great food and drink. How it can turn a day around, nurture and heal. We also know that food & drink are only as good as where they come from and the importance of this is only growing over time. We would like to express our passion for hospitality in a neighborhood restaurant that truly serves the members of our community mind, body & soul. We are behind the farm to fork movement 110% and plan to bring that commitment to our restaurant with sourcing, green building techniques and most importantly building a greenhouse for herbs, greens & more that we can ensure are the freshest they can be! We also want to share what we learn about greenhouse tending, with you in a book to be published at the end of year one including recipes, photos and resources. We live in Oak Park, IL with our menagerie of rescued animals and a ridiculously large collection of films & music.
I thought using a child's voice was the perfect idea to signify the "seedling" concept. Looks like others agree. Congrats to Autre Monde on getting funded and to young Charlie for being a part of the success! You should be proud Charlie--you helped raise over $5,000 for a good cause!

Great project, creative & fun but completely ineffective voice-over to your video. The child's voice is difficult to follow and quickly becomes annoying. The whole Dr. Seuss thing undermines the seriousness of the project. I advice you to change your voice-over and repitch all your contacts to try to make this work.

I was so excited when I first heard about this project. When I read in the Life that you needed backers I jumped on here to help. As a person who has had gastric bypass surgery you would not believe how hard it is to find a restuarant where you can actually be assured you're eating ACTUAL fresh and healthy food. I can't wait to eat foods straight from your greenhouse!!!!
Joanne, we love your son, his wife and of course Charlie & Clare. He is such a special boy and was the highlight of this project. So kind of you to support the project, hopefully we will get to meet you as well some day!

Thanks for the enthusiasm all. Kymm, you have helped build a greenhouse and as we learn we will host some classes in growing things in the greenhouse and hopefully event a rooftop garden at some point. Thanks again for the support!
best thing EVER. i never thought i'd come this close to knowing the source of my food, outside of my meager little garden. a greenhouse is a dream of mine– i will enjoy the one i'll never get to build vicariously through you! ;]
