Happy Frighday Friends & Family of Austin High!!  Some important stuff in here for our big weekend so PLEASE read it all!!

First off... thank you so much for all the online support... with your help, we've managed to stay right in the thick of things with all the Hollywood movies at AFF, and we still have the most views of any movie!!   If you haven't done the "add to calendar" thing, please do... if you're trying to do it from your phone, you'll need to find the "show me the full site" link at the very bottom of the mobile page.  http://aff.festivalgenius.com/2011/films/austinhigh_alandeutsch_aff2011

Second, and this is THE BIGGEST thing we can do.  If we win the Audience Award for the Texas Independents category, we WILL absolutely get more festival invites and no other award helps a movie get distribution more than Audience Awards!   There is one other movie in our category that seems to have become professional at winning these at other fests, so we definitely need your help.  The only way to vote is on the paper ballots they hand out at the end of the screenings.  Who wins is a combination of how many ballots are filled out (what percentage of the audience took the time) and then the scores themselves.  SO if you are lucky enough to get a ticket and get into either of the 2 screeings (info below), PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fill out a ballot (at least one) at the end of the movie and rate us through the roof! 

NOW... onto the screenings and partay info.

First off ... you DO NOT have to have an AFF badge or $50 Film Pass to get in!!  This  is a common misconception.  They do let the badgers and film pass holders in first, but they start selling all the seats that remain exactly 25 minutes before the movie will start.  We have no idea how many tickets will be left for either one... we have great buzz, but our screenings ARE across the river, not downtown, and they are late, so we really don't know how many badge/pass people will come.  So please come pre-party with us and go give it a shot!  Tix are 10 bucks.

Saturday night plan: Official Pre-party at Aussies Grill & Beach Bar on Barton Springs near Riverside (link below)... they will have us set up outside with super cheap food and drink specials just for us from 7pm - 9:30 when it's time to walk over (easy walk to the Rollins Theater at the Long Center) for the screening and get in line for the 10:30.  Again, they'll start selling tix at 10:05 for walk-ups.  if you don't get in, no worries!   We're starting the afterparty at Mohawk on Red River (no cover, good specials, great bands) at 11!!   Those that did get in will join around 12:30 and we'll party Austin High style til they close.

Monday night plan: Official Pre-party on back patio at Homeslice on S.Congress starting at 7.  They'll either have some free pizza bites cut up for us or discounts on pizza and drinks... whatever they've worked out.  Either way, good place to get together and get some food and a buzz on before the show.  Monday night's screening is at 9:30 again at the Long Center, so we'll head over there at 8:30 to get in line for 9:05 walk up sales.  No afterparty planned for Monday night, but Bill Wise will be at this one, so we can all just go to his house.

Here's a great, easy way to help us get some great exposure on the Austin Film Festival website.  3 easy-as-pie steps!

1. Go to http://bit.ly/n6woe9 (pictured above)

2. Click the Facebook 'Like' button on the right hand side.

3. Click the 'add to cal' button for the screening you're planning to attend.  This prompts a 'Log In With Facebook' option, so you don't even have to register.  It's that easy.

The more 'Likes' and Calendar adds we get, the higher up we rank on the AFF site.  This will help us generate festival buzz, and ensure that important celebrities like Sandra Bullock attend our after party!
