About this project
Dear Backers
We DID IT! We hit our minimum -- please remember it is just that a minimum amount needed to start festival-ing. Like other projects on Kickstarter, this is just the foundation. Please send what you can, help us pass the target, and if possible COME it will be a grand party and tickets are cheapo now!
If you need any assistance or have any problems with pledging, please email TV@atxfestival.com.
UPDATE (2/14) @LizTigelaar added to $25 Tweet Reward!
UPDATE (2/12): Support TV being equal to film -- and getting its very own Festival. Whether your favorite series is under appreciated or mainstream, or if you can attend the festival in June or not, pledge what you can. No one seems to believe us, but $1 helps! With about a week left, we are stoked to only have 35% to go! We know most of you have been waiting to swoop in during the final hour and buy your ticket/support the cause.
You might be asking, "What IS a TV Festival?" Don't worry, most people do. There are thousands of film and music festivals, in and out of Austin, but few that touch on Television. We are celebrating the medium: looking back at its history (classics, never picked up pilots, cancelled-too-soon series), where it is now (current hits on all networks), and where it's headed (new series, streaming, "indie" TV).
The Festival has the functionality of traditional film festivals, spotlighting television instead of movies through: premieres, screenings, Q&As with cast and creators, panels that discuss industry topics, and parties. The result is an event with attendees that are both fans and industry, as opposed to most events of this nature that are solely for one or another.
We've made our home in Austin -- a city filled with music, film, and TV. Texas has a thriving television community, making shows like Friday Night Lights, ABC Family's The Lying Game, and the upcoming reboot of Dallas. It won't be too hot in June as summer series kick off, and Network Upfronts will have already announced the new season's line up.
Don't take our word for it, just look at our supporters! Whether it be a writer, director, actor, producer, national or local brand, or awesome venue...everyone is excited for our inaugural year:
Richard Linklater, Betty Thomas, Julie Plec, Kyle Killen, Peter Billingsley, Arielle Kebbel, Liz Tigelaar, Chris Gorham, Stan Zimmerman, TVGuide.com, Matt Lanter, Ahmed Ahmed, Pretzel Crisps, Austin and Texas Film Commissions, Blue Bell, Hotel San Jose, Austin Studios, Treaty Oak Distilling, Lambert's BBQ, CW Austin, KXAN NBC, Alamo Drafthouse, and more are lending their support in a variety of ways every day!
Now we need your help! We are a non-profit and as a first time festival, we have a lot to prove to you and everyone else -- so we need a kick start! As much as we are getting donated, discounted, and pledged, some things need actual money. In addition, we want to bring in the people you most want to hear talk and see -- the more money we raise, the better programs and cast/crew we can program. We have set up levels that act as pre-sales for badges, but if you can only give a $1, then please do! If 10 percent of all the Twitter followers and fans of our Board members gave a single $1 we are in perfect territory to reach our goal!
NOTE: Our goal is set at $25,000 because we wanted to realistically reach it. That said, the more we raise the better festival we can give you. $100,000 is our perfect budget.
Let's get started!

FAQ
-
A few people have wanted to pledge larger amounts and receive badges/rewards, i.e. 2 screening badges, or two weekend, etc. This is of course most welcome! Best thing to do is to pledge the total amount you wish to ($90 for 2 screening badges at the $45 level), choose one reward at that level, then message us with the 2nd badge/reward level you wish to receive totalling the value of your pledge.
If you've already pledged then you can change your pledge amount or the reward you'd like at Manage Your Pledge.
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.

Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson have been in the film and television industries for over a decade. Caitlin focused her time and energy working on the production side for directors Betty Thomas, Nora Ephron, and Mira Nair. She has worked on a number of pilots, series, and feature films. In addition, she has been involved on the festival and filmmaker sides of renowned festivals like Sundance, Tribeca, and Doha Tribeca. Her love of the industry and the festival experience have led her to create a similar experience for a medium that has more pop culture influence and a farther reach than the mediums that already have festivals: music and film.
Emily Gipson has spent her years in the industry working on the studio and network side for Fox, TLC, Discovery, and Fox TV Studios. She has seen the ins and outs of the business side of the entertainment industry, and is eagerly awaiting to apply her knowledge to this festival.
Combined, Gipson and McFarland (both Texas natives) have the creative and business sides covered and are attacking ATX: a Television Festival with passion and gusto!
