DAY 14: EXCLUSIVE Wallpaper Reveal + Reward Section Update! / Animation Reveal / Regarding Gameplay Footage, and more!
Hello, friends of Attack Mountain! Here we are - not yet halfway through our campaign, yet it feels like we've been on this journey together for quite some time. We're nearly 20% funded, and we thank you all for that!
Hope you're sitting down, this update's got tons of new stuff that we couldn't be more excited about showing you, in addition to some announcements we think you'll be happy about! We're going to do this one free-form instead of bullets, if you don't mind.
WALLPAPER REVEAL
First, it's that moment you've been waiting for - the big reveal on the EXCLUSIVE wallpaper you'll be receiving if you pledge $5 or more to Legend of the Time Star! Ready? Are you reading on big enough a screen that you can already see it? Either way...

...there it is! A pledge of $5 or more will have this wallpaper sitting pretty on your desktop at the end of our Kickstarter campaign - that's right, we'll be sending this bad boy out as soon as the campaign ends (assuming we succeed, of course)!
We're not done, though. Take a minute to breathe, if you must.
All set? Let's keep going.
A LOOK INSIDE THE ANIMATION PROCESS
We'd like to give you a little insight into our sprite animation process. We've been working with the gang over at Echo Bridge to bring this incredible world to life, and we're ready to show just a tiny little sliver of what we've been up to:

Above, you'll find cleaned up pencil work for Hero's normal walk cycle alongside Dudu's concept art. This is just step one of many that goes into developing Time Star's in-game sprites - to ensure that the game's sprite animations are as fluid and expressive as we see them in our minds, we start with hand-drawn animations; once we've all signed off on how they look, the team over at Echo Bridge takes them and distills them down into pixel form. This isn't a new method - Capcom has been doing it forever - but it gives you something that looks old-school while ensuring that it's not robotic when all's said and done. It's a very unique and highly-desired feel, and we're amazed at what the team has done so far!
REGARDING GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE
Let's talk about something else that you guys have been asking a lot about: gameplay footage. We want to tell you that we hear you loud and clear. Tons of high quality Kickstarters are coming to the table with prototypes these days. While it makes the barrier to entry much higher for aspiring studios (who may not have the ability to develop something like that until AFTER they get funded), we understand it also helps you guys wade through potential projects with a bit more ease by giving you a better idea of what you're investing in. After all, a gameplay video speaks a thousand words.
Today, we'd like to reveal that we are indeed working on a short but sweet gameplay video for you. What we've got so far is very rough - like, not ready for public consumption rough. Even when you DO see it, we want you to keep in mind that it's going to be what we'd call pre-pre-PRE-Alpha. We couldn't stay quiet about it any longer, because we know deep down that it's been holding some people back from investing. So, there you have it - a short gameplay video is coming.
That's all we can say at this moment - once we know when we'll be far enough along to unveil it, we'll definitely do so, and tell you exactly which Kickstarter Update it'll be in.
REWARD SECTION UPDATED!
We've blown out the Rewards Section on our Kickstarter page to further detail all of the reward packages. We've also clarified the last package, which is now called 'The Royal Package'; donate on this tier, and one of Foghold's legendary Royal Knights will be named after you! Trust us when we say this is massive - Atone doesn't just hang out with anyone, but if you're an Executive Producer on Time Star, clearly you've got what it takes. As you'll find out as we dive deeper into development and unveil more and more of the game, The Royal Knights are a pretty important part of Time Star's game world; to be among them will cement your place in gaming history for all times. We know it's pricy, but it's worth it; plus, we'll take you to the nicest steakhouse in NYC (assuming you live nearby), and talk over the character with you as we chow down on delicious, delicious steak. Totally worth it.
FAQ UPDATE...
...is coming tomorrow evening. We've got a lot going on on this end tonight, but your questions have been received and will be answered very soon. Thanks for your patience!

Hey guys!
My favourite update so far - I'm a 2D animator myself, so I was psyched to see a walk cycle on there. If you can keep the animation teasers coming, you'll have one very happy pledger here!
I'm completely behind your decision to use the animation method Capcom have become so known for. It's fantastic to see some classical animation on the table rather than the CGI I'm used to! So much fresher. It works extremely well with the beautiful concept art, too, the animator has kept the feel nicely.
Just wanted to give you the thumbs up, can't wait for more!

@zacH - That walk animation is just a start. As they said, the animations all get tested to see how they flow into each other. This is just a basic stepping animation. It will flow into a quicker walk, then a run. There will be dash, attack moves etc that will all form a part of the overall look of the animations.
In fact, for just the first penciled version I think that is actually pretty good. Don't worry - I'm sure you'll be seeing some really great stuff as the game matures and gets further developed. Remember also that this is just the first few months of a 2 years + development cycle. One that we'll get to be a part of through the miracle of crowd funding :D

Hey guys! The walk animation looks nice, but perhaps a bit... plain? Maybe that's not the word. Unexciting?
I guess I'd have to take the pace of the game into question, but I think some really excellent movement animations I might take inspiration from would be something like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The way that Alucard moves in that game... man. Super fluid, of course, but also just the way that he moves, feels like he's really moving with great purpose. Really throwing himself forward, I guess. You could even do a similar flowing movement of the cowl, since our hero is wearing one. Just a small suggestion, but I hope it'll be considered. Really looking forward to the game. :) Good luck with reaching the goal!
