Update #1 · May 7, 2012 · comment

The production this campaign is funding is going to be pretty amazing.  Make sure you check it out:

Known to many as "the greatest love story ever told," Firebird Theatre blazes back onto the Allentown scene for its 2nd annual Shakespeare on 7th with an innovative production of the Bard's classic: Romeo & Juliet. Pulling inspiration from the Prince's line "All are punished," in a departure from canon, Firebird's production focuses on the survivors of the long-standing Veronian feud as they struggle to come to grips with a tragic course of events for which all are culpable and none with sense or reason intervened.

In its second year, Shakespeare on 7th is a community event focused on making Shakespeare's work accessible to all audiences both by price and production with the goal of expanding to a full-fledged festival complete with three plays, educational programs, and other supplementary entertainments and events occurring on and around the 7th Street corridor of Allentown, Pennsylvania. As we say on 7th Street: “No one is barred from the Bard!”

Performances will be June 1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th at 8:00pm and June 3rd and 10th at 2:00pm. Performances will be at The Firebird Theatre 445-447 N. 7th St. Allentown, PA (Entrance through the side door on Liberty St.) Play includes adult themes and situations and may not be suitable for all audiences. ALL TICKETS ARE FREE (A suggested donation of $10 will be accepted prior to the performances but is not mandatory.)And here is the facebook event!
