We're having fun making Music Together! We need your help to provide this early childhood music program to PS536 in the Bronx for free!
Look at how much fun these kids are having! ArtStrides has been bringing Music Together to PS 536 for just over a year and you can see the results. Music makes them "surprised, excited, and happy, happy happy!" But we are running out of money and we need your help! Our funds will run out by the end of 2012. We need $15,000 to continue for the rest of these students' first grade year. How can you say no to those faces? Click the donate button today and give what you can. - Provide PS 536 teachers with professional development in early childhood music so that they can develop the tools they need to continue integrating music into the curriculum.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
PS 536 is a new school in the Bronx that has opened where a failing school was closed. The challenges include families with very low income, limited resources, and a school system that measures student success by comparing test scores against those with access to much more - including programs like Music Together.
In a recent study in Bridgeport, CT, students who participated in the Music Together program scored better on cognitive change, language development, and physical development than those who did not participate. A study in the Trenton public schools concluded that the Music Together program supports the attributes that young children need for school success.
Our goal is to help level the playing field by providing this research-based program to the students at PS 536. Our biggest challenge is funding. Once we raise the funds we will be able to make Music Together with the PS 536 community.
