'Have you ever seen those action movies where the hero outruns a bomb going off by jumping through a glass window as fireballs the size of Volkswagens explode all around him, searing flesh that's quickly cooled by a hundred foot dive into a body of water below? Yep. Done it. No, really. Twice, actually. Wait. My bad. Make that three times. Me? I'm fucking Rambo ... 'cept I look tits in heels.'
And with those words, the story of Violet - Professional Fixer longing for a life of normality that will forever elude her - kicks off. This 100% original online comic series can currently be followed at www.ArtOverLifeStudios.com and is updated weekly.
The goal with this Kickstarter project - simply put - is to bring this online series to physical publication, with the only difference being that the comic series - unlike the web series - will be in beautiful black and white, ala the old school Pulp Fiction-ish comic books of the past. My ORIGINAL intent, actually, was to be able to get the printing costs SO low that the cover price could be a legit BUCK and - in doing so - I was hoping to pull in a lot of folks who have long since abandoned the comic book industry because of high cover prices. In the end, while we may not be able to realistically pull off the 'buck' cover price, we may STILL be able to keep it lower than the average comic book.
All money raised from this Kickstarter project will go towards printing and promoting the first two issues of ULTRAVIOLE(n)T ...

Gary Yap entered the world of comics with a BANG, as what started off as an inking assignment for the 'Monsters From Outer Space' mini-series - written by the critically-acclaimed writing team of Will Jacobs and Gerard Jones - wound up turning into a penciling/inking/lettering assignment that was the living, breathing definition of 'Trial by Fire'. He went on to work on such books as Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps Quarterly, Green Lantern: Mosaic, and Loco vs. Pulverine, among other projects.
In 1997, Yap left the comics field and entered the world of animation, becoming a Storyboard Artist for 'King of the Hill', where he was nominated twice for an Emmy for 'Outstanding Achievement in Storyboarding'. He went on to become an Animator, Assistant Director, Retakes Director, and eventually the show's Character Layout Supervisor. During his hiatus, he also worked on 'The Simpsons', 'The Oblongs' and 'Family Guy'.
