Share the love of electronics and programming with someone with this easy to use kit. You may just inspire the "Next Big Invention"!
The "Easy" way to build and learn with Arduino and Uno32!
Let's make Arduino* technology easily accessible and functional for classrooms, clubs and individuals.
**The DuinoKit will be compatible with Arduino and Uno32 by ChipKit.**
Almost everyone enjoys inventing and creating... My goal is to give some tools for helping this process! I can hardly wait to see the creations people can make with this kit. This could inspire the next millionaire!
Do you remember electronic kits like these from the 80's? I used to have several of these electronic kits as a child and my 10 year old son has some of them now. It would be great if we could bring the ease of construction and the containment of these kits into the Arduino environment?
What is an Arduino?
Click here to see a few projects made and shared on Instructables.com. "Arduino was mostly designed by artists for artists and designers...I think it's been the most important product/project in the world of educational electronics.” Click Here to find out more! Some additional project easily completed could be... LED (digital) Dice, a binary counter, a Morse code translator, a lie detector, and my personal favorite a Fart Operated TV Channel Changer. The possibilities are endless with a little imagination.
Why a kit?
The Arduino is an incredible platform for learning electronics, programming and robotics. However, with tons of little parts and additional modules and items to buy, it it difficult to use in a group learning environment. The goal of this project is to supply everything needed to quickly and easily construct and build projects without loosing track of parts and components.
What I would like to do...
For this project I want to construct a printed circuit board design and a full collection of parts soldered on the board as a Arduino Inventors Kit, that will be ready to build and experiment. The kit will be built into a custom wood case complete with stand-off backing for securing the development board and additional break-out modules.
No more lost parts or trying to reading the number on a transistor or IC. With this kit, all parts will be clearly labeled with a schematic drawing for easy building and the learning of electronics. (Very rough prototype pictured below)
I have quotes with some US vendors and builders and
would like to use as much US labor and resources to complete this
project. I plan on including several common "break-out" modules that
are typically used in both beginner and advanced projects. The more support on this initial run, the more components we can include in this project.
Below is a tentative parts list for consideration and I would appreciate YOUR opinion on adding and removing components. The more kits we can mass-produce, the lower the initial cost allowing for the addition of break-out modules and various processors to be included in the kit. Please see the tentative parts list below and submit your feedback for the final kit assembly. I will place a web survey and response system where I can collect data and YOUR opinions of final project components design and even a name for the final project. Each donor will be invited as an on-line collaborator.
UPDATE:At nearly the same time as we started our project, we found another great project on KickStarter The DigiSpark (Click Here) is a mini Arduino processor. We have laid the groundwork to incorporate a location to add this DigiSpark module into every kit so that you can miniaturize your projects and test them with the same "Plug and Play" of our Arduino Classroom Kit. Every kit purchased will include a DigiSpark module for building and experimenting.
