Update #5: New REIGN project: NAIN

Posted on May 24, 2010

Dear REIGN Enchiridion backers,

By now you should have received the PDF of the REIGN Enchiridion and most of you have received the physical books as well. (Some last orders to Europe should arrive this week.)

We hope you enjoy using the Enchiridion as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

We thought you'd like to see the latest Kickstarter project for REIGN. It's a new setting, heavy on magic and wonder, by Greg Stolze, called NAIN. You can help bring it to life. Visit the address below to find out more.

Thank you again for your dedication to REIGN!

      Dear REIGN Enchiridion backers,

Thank you for supporting REIGN! We thought you might like to know that REIGN author Greg Stolze has a new REIGN project now on Kickstarter.

"REIGN of Ardwin" takes the REIGN rules into a new world loaded with all the classic races of high fantasy. The REIGN core rulebook, of course, featured a world with only human beings as the central characters, no elves and dwarves and so forth. Ardwin is a world with elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, sprites, gnomes, the works -- everything EXCEPT humans. Ardwin examines each of these fantasy races from the ground up to make for compelling and unique roleplaying.

You can see more about REIGN of Ardwin here:

And be sure to check its Updates for extra glimpses into this fun setting.

      Thanks again for supporting REIGN!

Update #3: Enchiridion Update

Posted on January 6, 2010

The Reign Enchiridion project is a success! Thank you!

As promised, the book is now in layout. We expect to send it to press in mid/late January, at which point we'll also send the PDF version out to project backers. Once it's printed and in the warehouse, we'll make it available for sale to the general public.

Thanks again for supporting the Reign Enchiridion! If you'd like to see more new material for the One-Roll Engine, please consider 'Bigger Bads,' our newest supplement for the Ennie-nominated game 'Monsters and Other Childish Things.'

'Bigger Bads' is in its own Kickstarter project, ending January 15. That project has moved pretty slowly, coming so close on the heels of the Enchiridion and coming over the holidays, so we hope you'll support it. As with the Enchiridion, no pledges will be charged unless the project becomes fully funded by the deadline.

You can find the 'Bigger Bads' project here:

And in case we forgot to say it earlier: Thank you!

Update #2: One-Roll Monsters!

Posted on December 11, 2009

It's now December 11 and the Reign Enchiridion project has seven days to go. At 82% we're nearly there!

In order to sweeten the pot a little more, Enchiridion author Greg Stolze has an offer for you.

He recently wrote a 2,000-word article called "One-Roll Monsters," which has a bunch of charts and things so you can just roll a handful of dice and instantly generate a new monster for Reign. "One-Roll Monsters" was going to be the next downloadable supplement for Reign.

If the Enchiridion ransom beats its target by $200, Greg will put "One-Roll Monsters" in the Enchiridion.

That's on top of the "One-Roll Spells" chapter that he's already added to the Enchiridion to go with the rules for building your own magic systems.

If you're thinking of backing the Enchiridion, now's the time to commit!

And if you support the Enchiridion, help us spread the word. Talk about it and post a link to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/arcdream/reign-enchiridion on your favorite online forums where you think gamers might like the game -- especially current fans of Reign and the One-Roll Engine who haven't yet made up their minds.

Thank you for supporting Arc Dream, Greg Stolze, and the Reign Enchiridion!

Update #1: Extras in the Enchiridion

Posted on December 3, 2009

The Reign Enchiridion is meant primarily not as new Reign material, but as a streamlined, easily portable, easily affordable version of the core rules. That said, a few extras are always appreciated when people put their hard-earned money forward to fund a project like this.

Earlier today, one Reign fan on RPG.net said he'd like to see a section with "One-Roll Magic," where you can roll dice to instantly generate a new spell based on the rules for creating new magic. I liked the idea and asked what Reign author Greg Stolze thought. I figured, it's more work and he's very busy, but it would be a pretty fun little extra to throw in there.

An hour ago, Greg finished the One-Roll Magic section. If the ransom succeeds, it will go into the book. Now that's how things get done!

We've been polling fans actively for suggestions on extras like that, things that make this kind of ransom more attractive apart from the prospect of getting the actual book. We've gotten some great ideas.

We've acted on a couple already -- One-Roll Magic is one, and another is lowering the minimum bid to allow fans to pledge $10 to get just a PDF edition without paying for postage and printing. Please see the Arc Dream blog (http://arcdream.livejournal.com/4645.html) to read more and to send your own suggestions.

Thank you for your support!
