Update #8: Bigger Bads has shipped at last!

Posted on August 26, 2010

Thank you for your support of BIGGER BADS, the supplement for Monsters and Other Childish Things!

I'm very happy to report that after many, many delays (did I say "many" already? it was a lot), the warehouse has shipped all backers' copies. If you requested a print copy as part of your support for BIGGER BADS, it should be reaching you soon.

It's now August 26. If after another week or so (give it two or three weeks if you're outside the U.S.) you haven't gotten it, please contact me at shane /// at /// arcdream \\\dot\\\ com and I'll make sure your book is on the way.

Thank you again. Arc Dream Publishing and Monsters and Other Childish Things thrive on the support of fans like you.

And while I'm here, have you heard about ROAD TRIP, the newest publication for Monsters and Other Childish Things? It's a full-length campaign with nine complete adventures, written by Ross Payton. It debuted at GenCon and got a great response from fans there. Check it out. You'll like it. We put a bunch of previews, including the six full-color postcards that come with the book, on our website.

Finally, our friends at Cubicle 7 Entertainment have published the MONSTERS AND OTHER CHILDISH THINGS POCKET EDITION. It too debuted at GenCon and was a big hit. It's the core rulebook for Monsters and Other Childish Things in a small paperback. All the same text, but smaller, lighter, and half the price.

See Road Trip and the Pocket Edition at www.arcdream.com.

Thanks again.

      Whoo hoo!!!! Thanks!

Update #7: Unbeatable reward: Bigger Bads + the Monsters core book

Posted on January 10, 2010

We're serious about wanting to see Bigger Bads succeed! If there's any doubt, we have added another two new rewards:

If you're in the U.S. and you support Bigger Bads for $35, you get Bigger Bads in print, Bigger Bads in PDF, and a copy of the Monsters and Other Childish Things core rulebook.

If you're outside the U.S., the same deal applies for a pledge of $50.

That's like buying the core book and getting 'Bigger Bads' for free.

Tell your friends! If you know anyone who's been sitting on the fence about supporting this project, maybe this will bring them on board.

(TYPO ALERT! The description for the U.S. reward on the Kickstarter page says "Pledge $35 or more" in the header and then mentions $30 in the text; and the one for outside the U.S. says "Pledge $50 or more" in the header and mentions $45 in the text. The headers are right -- it's $35 in the U.S. and $50 outside the U.S. We apologize for the confusion.)

This is just a great reward. Pledge adjusted accordingly.

Update #6: 'Bigger Bads' preview: Bigness

Posted on January 9, 2010

Today we have a HUGE preview of 'Bigger Bads' -- the rules for truly gigantic monsters!

http://arcdream.livejournal.com/5962.html

If you're a Monsters fan, please get your fellow fans to join the 'Bigger Bads' project -- if you recruit enough, you could get your very own Skype Q&A with the author and publisher, or you could even join a LIVE Monsters game via Skype with author Benjamin Baugh!

Update #5: 'Bigger Bads' supporters: Bring your friends and you can game with the author!

Posted on January 7, 2010

The ransom for the new Monsters book Bigger Bads has, as the song said, a long way to go and a short time to get there. So we're adding some more incentives to try to get all the Monsters fans behind it that we can. We have new rewards for fans who rope in other supporters.

If you recruit other backers who support the project, and all together your support and theirs add up to $250 or more, you get a 25-minute Q&A with Benjamin Baugh, Ross Payton and Shane Ivey, which Ross will record for his podcast Roleplaying Public Radio. We'll need your friends to confirm that you brought them aboard, so make sure they tell us!

If you recruit other backers who support the project, and all together your support and theirs add up to $500 or more, you get to join a 'Monsters and Other Childish Things' game session via Skype with Ross Payton and Shane Ivey as fellow players -- Ross will record it for his podcast Roleplaying Public Radio -- and with 'Monsters' author Benjamin Baugh as the game master!

And if you're so hardcore that you pony up $500 yourself, you get to join the Skype game even without recruiting anybody else.

So if you want to see this thing succeed, go get those Monsters fans! ;)

Update #4: Another reward: Credit toward the printed book

Posted on January 6, 2010

We've added yet another reward!

If you back "Bigger Bads" for $10, in addition to the PDF you also get a $10 credit toward buying a physical copy of the book! (This reward does not apply to pledges of $25 or more.)

(Thanks to migo at the RPG.net forums for the suggestion.)

Update #3: A new reward for Bigger Backers: Q&A with the author

Posted on January 6, 2010

It's time to up the ante.

Each 'Bigger Bads' backer who pledges a whopping $300 or more gets a 15-minute Skype Q&A session with Benjamin Baugh, Ross Payton and Shane Ivey, which Ross will record for his podcast Roleplaying Public Radio. That’s a separate interview for each big spender. If we get ten big spenders each pledging $250, we’ll do 10 interviews! But the interviews happen only if the project succeeds, so pledge and tell your friends.

Bad typing! Make that $250 or more, and it's a 25-minute interview.

Well that's certainly better, but how about making it an even 1/2 hour? :)

Update #2: 'Bigger Bads' Preview: Fiddly Bits

Posted on January 4, 2010

A new preview of "Bigger Bads" is now online!

Today's excerpt is from "Fiddly Bits," a chapter on new and revised rules for "Monsters and Other Childish Things," ranging from "assist" maneuvers to new Extras to earning the mockery of your peers. I hope you like it. And if you do like it, please spread the word!

'Earning the mockery of your peers' I love the writing style on this game! I can't afford to pledge more myself, so I hope some (many) more backers come out of the wood work.

Oh, wouldn't that be a good place for a monster to hide!?

      Well, I think it would.

Update #1: 'Bigger Bads' Preview: Monkey Aliens from Planet K!

Posted on December 28, 2009

Bigger Bads, the new sourcebook for our multi-award-nominated game Monsters and Other Childish Things, is now in a fundraising "ransom" with just under three weeks to go. Written by Monsters creator Benjamin Baugh—who was also nominated for a Major Award for The Dreadful Secrets of Candlewick Manor, and who won one for Evil Hat's Don't Lose Your Mind—Bigger Bads adds scads of new tools for a Monsters game, including enemies small and really, really large.

As a preview, here's a group of small enemies who can pose a very large threat.
