Maker Faire, Press and Cheap Robots for Everyone!

Wow, its been a fantastic past two weeks. The kickstarter exploded, funded in one day. We're meeting tons of people interested in helping the educational mission, and opportunities are popping up as fast as we can reply to them.

Press is also starting to take off, too:

With the support from the Kickstarter project, its now going to be possible for us to develop more educational robots in the future. We’ve got some really exciting products that are planned for the future, so thank you to all the supporters, you made this possible!

Maker Faire was also a great time. We got to meet a lot of people who are excited about the work we’re doing, and we got valuable feedback from people in terms of what they were looking for in Hexy, what they liked and didn’t like, and ideas on how to spread it around better. Thanks to everyone that stopped by the booth, especially the kids:

      On that note I would take a set in aluminum; but then soon we're talking stronger servos; then all of a sudden we're right back at $1200.00 to get started...

      I plan to use my Reprap to do any customization I want...

      4x overfunded! and still got a (lunar) month to go. Be careful what you wish for eh? The $ from Kickstarter wont get to you until near the end of July at the earliest. Time enough for planning how to meet production goals. You got a LOT of laser cutting ahead. Ponoko for distributed production? I'd be down for cutting em local -- kits with just the servo/electronics/fasteners?
      Next version/upgrade might use a BeagleBone to give enough processing for video... Aluminum body parts?

      The feedback is already making a difference! The bluetooth option was added soley based on community feedback, and I definitely know to add more mounting holes and hardware based on what people are telling me they want to do with it. Its also highly guiding the tutorial writing process.
