Update #4: Joystickers Classic arcade buttons for sale!

Posted on June 28, 2011

Hello again friends,

For those of who who have been patiently waiting for us to release the Classics - we've got good news.

When we launched on Kickstarter back in February our manufacturing costs were through the roof. As you might recall, we were offering 2 Classics for $30 (frown face). Since then, we've been working hard to bring that price down while improving the product in the process. Today you can pre-order a 3-pack of the new Classics on our website for $20.

To show our immense gratitude to all of you, we've partnered up with Brad Feld to offer an insane deal. You can pre-order the same 3-pack of Classics for $9 right now! You can also order a 5-pack for only $13. This deal only lasts for the next 5 days and has a limited quantity available so you'll have to act quick!

Click here to get your Classics.

Once again, thank you so much for your support and we look forward to making you smile.

Update #3: The FLOW is Now Available for Pre-Order

Posted on April 14, 2011

Hello friends!

We're excited to let you know that we've re-launched the Flow. As a way to show our massive appreciation to those who backed us the first time around, you can get the same Flow for only $20 with shipping included within the USA. If it wasn't for your initial support we wouldn't be back on Kickstarter. Thanks and we hope to see you soon!

Update #2: Thank you and goodnight.

Posted on March 16, 2011

Hello friends!

So the response we've been getting over the past three weeks has been amazing. We want to sincerely thank everyone that reached out to us with feedback and support and we especially want to thank our backers. You guys get our vision and for that we're infinitely grateful.

It was tough, but we decided to cancel the campaign early. Though it may look like we're giving up, the exact opposite is the case. We're more pumped than ever about Joystickers and we're much more prepared to make it successful. I'd like to share some of the lessons we learned for those of you who are curious or are thinking about starting your own Kickstarter campaign.

Lesson #1 Launch only one product in a single campaign.

We launched the Classics alongside the Flow and Scribe because, at the time, it just wasn't cost effective to make a special edition of the Classic. For example, making another color would have required us to meet a completely separate minimum order quantity. But we still wanted to offer cool rewards at higher pledge tiers so we threw in our other products. This had a few negative effects that we've been able to identify by listening to all the comments. We confused potential backers with our inconsistent campaign and many people didn't even see the Scribe or Flow if they didn't watch the video.

Lesson #2 Don't offer a pledge tier you're not comfortable with.

We were hesitant to charge $30 for two Classics, but we thought that was our only option given our manufacturing situation at the time. We planned for the worst case scenario of pre-orders we'd need to fulfill and based our pricing around that. After manufacturing overseas and assembling it all here in Chicago (there were reasons why that made sense at the time), our cost was upwards of $15 per Classic. Insane. Thanks to the incredible exposure we've gotten over the past few weeks we've met manufacturers that are able to bring our production costs down significantly. This is great news for all of us.

So what's going to happen next?

We're going to start over and launch one product at a time because, quite frankly, each of them kicks ass and deserves its own campaign. And we're not going to launch anything at a price we can't defend. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates because the first product is set to launch on Kickstarter very soon. We're waiting for its special edition to arrive and then it's off to film a demo.

What about those who already pledged?

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU. Rest assured you won't be charged for your pledge toward this campaign. If you still believe in us and follow along with our next campaigns, you'll eventually be able to get everything you initially pledged for, but at a cheaper price. We're going to make the Kickstarter pledge rewards cheaper than the retail price as a way to show our appreciation for all the support from this amazing community.

One more thing..

Although Russ and I have been really busy working toward solutions we haven't abandoned what really excites us - designing cool products. We're working on a couple of things you haven't seen yet and we can't wait to show them to you.

Again, thank you all for being so supportive and we'll see you very soon!

High Five,

Anthony and Russ

I think this is a smarter idea. I actually backed the project more for the Flow than I did for the buttons. I'd likely use both, but I REALLY want that paintbrush. Like yesterday.

Update #1: Thank you!

Posted on March 7, 2011

We're long overdue for an update so let me start off by saying THANK YOU to all of our backers and anyone who has offered their comments, suggestions, and support. It has been an incredible two weeks.

Since launching we've received a ton of great feedback that Russ and I have been considering carefully. We're very close to making a decision that we think everyone will be excited about - especially those of you who have already backed us.

We've been meeting with some incredibly smart and experienced people who are excited about what we're doing with Joystickers and have offered their guidance on our journey. You all are a part of this journey and we can't wait to share the next update with you.

We'll talk to you soon!
