Looking for a sweet children's tale to carry you off to Dreamland? Then this is not the path... This is the dark path of The Brother's Grimm. These infamous brothers gathered the Black Forest's richest and eeriest fairy tales... Tales of capricious elves, wicked queens, and cruel beasts. In a totally immersive theatrical experience full of scents, sounds, texture, and stunning visuals, the Kansas City Society of Burlesque and Bee's Knees Burlesque will combine their sexpertise in a magnificent collaboration to bring you into the Grimm world, where things are not always as they seem... They are sparklier, and even more magical, and often very, very funny. The KCSOB and Bee's Knees are proud and pleased to be collaborating with amazing artist Tyson Schroeder (show artwork, set design and execution, and a costume design) and wildly talented costumer Jana Jesse (costume building and design). We are also utilizing customized, specially recorded music with live vocal performance. (In other words, where there is canned music, we will be canning it ourselves.) Our costumes and sets are ambitious and elaborate, but we truly believe this is what is needed to tell these tales in the manner they deserve. That, my dear, is where you come in... Our supporters, our backers, our family of fellow appreciators of a good tale, a good time, and a good view... Ahem. With your contribution we will make Kansas City even more proud to be on the cutting edge of the burlesque revival. Our show will debut at KC's Fringe Fest 2011 in late July at The Living Room in it's 90 minute format (That's right, NINETY minutes) and then revive in late August in it's extended two-hour version.
