Anna Wexler is a freelance writer (specializing in science and travel) and documentary filmmaker currently based in Tel Aviv, Israel. She graduated from MIT in 2007 with two degrees, one in Brain and Cognitive Science and the other in Humanities and Science with a focus in Writing. She was selected as a 2007-2008 WGBH Filmmaker-in-residence to work on Unorthodox. Anna’s writing has been published in numerous magazines, books, and online outlets; most recently, her piece about accidentally becoming the President of the Jury at the World Testicle Cooking Championship was anthologized in “Best Women’s Travel Writing 2011.” Unorthodox is her first feature documentary.
Nadja Oertelt is a scientist and currently conducts ethnographic research as a consultant in London. She has studied visual arts, film, neuroscience, archaeology and anthropology. She directed and produced short documentaries for VBS (Vice) and published research in Nature Neuroscience and PNAS as a neuroscientist at MIT and Harvard. She has conducted archaeological fieldwork in South Africa and investigated the evolution of primates at UCL, and is finishing an MSc in Paleoanthropology. Oertelt received a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience with a concentration in Visual Arts at MIT in June 2008. Unorthodox is her first feature documentary.
