I’ve been selected for an artist residency program in Iceland! While abroad I aim to film a video and carry out a live performance.
I have been accepted into the Gullkistan residency program in Laugarvatn, a town outside of Reykjavik in Iceland!!!! During June, I intend to use the time, space, and inspiration found in the town of Laugarvatn to produce the second part of my film project An Irregularly Shaped Pearl (sample online version of part I here). The film and live performance for part II of An Irregularly Shaped Pearl will involve an investigation in depictions of women, commodification, and planned obsolescence in Iceland experienced firsthand, to embark on a more international approach to my research.
I will use and reuse disposable materials I find in Laugarvatn to construct my sets and combine contemporary Icelandic advertising with historic art and aesthetic movements. I intend to shoot the film during my residency and carry out a related live public performance!
Your Contribution: The majority of donations will be used for costs of materials and film equipment rentals, the lodging Residency fee, and travel expenses. Donations exceeding my goal will go towards any unforeseen project costs.
