(drumroll.........) AND IT BEGINS!!!!
I've been pumped to start this campaign for months now! Kickstarter is such an amazing platform, and I think this is going to be a ridiculously fun way to make my next full-length record.

You might be asking these questions:
WHY $30,000?
$30K may seem like a hefty chunk of change, but to be honest, it's really JUST ENOUGH to make the kind of album I'm going for--an album that will compete on ANY level in today's musical world. Major labels today typically spend around $200,000 merely recording the album--I'm planning to work with 15% of that, and still cover my artwork, photography, packaging, and duplication. (Trust me, indie artists know how to make the most of budget restrictions.) I've been able to share my vision and excitement with a lot of A-level musicians and engineers over the past year, and I want to have enough funding to bring them onboard, to allow them enough time to do their best work on my project.
Plus, as much as I enjoy the challenge of playing multiple roles in the record-making process....from covering all the instruments, to mixing/engineering...even attempting artwork design (as early "Thinks Of Her" fans may remember).....there is something REALLY powerful about assembling a team of people who are at the top of THEIR game, and creating something BIG together. THAT's what I want to do. But I need your help to do it.
WHAT'S THE RECORD GOING TO BE LIKE?
Well, I'm still a romantic and still have a habit of writing "chick-flicks-in-song-form"...but I'm excited to capture a new level of energy in the studio that hasn't really been featured on my previous records. I've tested a few of the new songs at my live shows this past year, but there are a bunch more--a year's worth of writing--that are completely done and ready to be shared.
I'll give you a few brief, random sentences that I feel might portray the vibe of this upcoming album:
-"Why do I feel the sudden urge to wear a fedora?"
-"I could make out right now. What's your name?"
-"Is it ok that my hips are moving like this?"
-"Hello, modern--my name is vintage."
-"OMG he gets me!"
-"Hello, vintage--my name is modern."
-"He's singing this about ME, you know."
-"I'm gonna wear my blazer, but I'm not going to shave."
-"I'm glad I shaved my legs..."
WHY ASK FANS TO PAY FOR IT?
For me, this project allows my fans to step into the process with me, and creates a platform for them to say "this is the music we like, and we want to hear more of it--AND, we want other people to hear it as well. So we're going to help." (Ps. My fans don't speak in run-on sentences.)
If people ARE fans of my music, it probably means that they heard about it from their friends over the years, or have done some musical digging online to find a healthy alternative to the generic stuff that often gets pumped through the radio...or maybe it was from a mixtape made by an ex. This project is an opportunity to directly support the music you actually want to hear out there, and creates a way for artist and fan to truly be a part of each other's stories.
WHEN IS THE RECORD COMING OUT?
I'm shooting to release the record THIS SPRING (2011). Once it's done, there won't be any waiting around for a long build up---this Kickstarter project IS the build up, and I feel like I owe it to the contributors of the project to release it as soon as it's done.
WHAT IS BAJA BURRITO AND HOW ARE THEY HELPING THE HOMELESS?
Baja Burrito is my favorite local Nashville restaurant, and they've volunteered to buy a meal for a homeless person (through the Nashville Rescue Mission) for every person that contributes to my Kickstarter campaign. At the top of this page, you'll see a tab that says "Backers," and for every Backer I have on the project, Baja Burrito is buying a meal for the homeless. Amazing.

Andy Davis's smart and seductive blue-eyed soul music weds indelible hooks to sly, incisive lyrics, creating songs that sound like newly minted pop-soul classics.
A Louisiana native, Davis released his first album, "Thinks of Her," in 2004. "Thinks of Her" struck a chord on college campuses, selling out its initial print run. The original pressing of the CD -- with Davis's hand-written lyrics and stenciled cover art -- became a collector's item within months of its release.
In 2005, the remastered rerelease of "Thinks of Her" gained Davis national exposure and brought him to the attention of legendary music producer Mitchell Froom (Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow, Elvis Costello). The result of their collaboration was "Let the Woman," a sophisticated, sonically adventurous album that ignited a bidding war. Barnes and Noble won the exclusive rights to distribute "Let the Woman" online and and in their stores all over the world. The album's single, "Brown Eyes," became a staple on AAA radio stations nationwide, and "Let the Woman" became a #4 bestseller.
Davis toured extensively in support of "Let the Woman", both headlining and opening for Colbie Caliat, Jakob Dylan, Mat Kearney, Will Hoge, Howie Day, and NEEDTOBREATHE.
The following year, Davis became a prominent member of Ten Out of Tenn, a critically acclaimed collective of Nashville singer/songwriters who joined forces for a collaborative tour that was documented in the award-winning documentary film, "Any Day Now."
In late 2009, Davis returned to Nashville to record an EP, "New History," which was featured in -- and inspired -- an episode of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy."
2010 was filled with more touring, but more importantly, writing and planning for his next full-length album project, due out late spring/early summer of 2011. Davis has decided to embark on this album in collaboration with his fans--asking them to help fund the making of this album through a site called Kickstarter.com.
