Cafe Giraffe: Fast-casual Restaurant & Market
Convenient, delicious, allergen-free food is coming soon to NYC.
The food at Cafe Giraffe will always be free of gluten and will always be mostly free of peanuts, fish, and shellfish. Our delectable offerings can also be customized to exclude the remaining top 8 food allergies and intolerances, including milk, egg, tree nuts, and soybean.
Our elegant, family friendly venue will literally be a place that has something for everyone. Modernist burgers and sandwiches with hand-crafted sauces, tempting desserts, and delicious drinks will appeal to customers who do not have food allergies but want to try something “better than home cooking” at a great price.
Cafe Giraffe will open our doors in NYC in spring, 2012. We plan to expand to a city near you within five years. Our EatNo8 (trademark pending) and No-8 (trademark pending) line of sauces will be available for purchase through mail order and on amazon.
We first started planning Cafe Giraffe in December, 2009. We're seeking seed funding to secure leases for a retail space and equipment, commission expert help including kitchen design and real estate brokers, and to take the final step toward full financing.

$43,900 is the amount we need so that we can qualify for loans to finance the rest of our operations costs. Our backers will help us leverage the next steps in our financing.

Yes! Every pledge makes a difference. One thing we need to demonstrate with this campaign is that there is enough interest in an allergy-free option. Your pledge will help us make that statement!

Fast-casual means that meals, including a drink, entree, and dessert or snack, will cost between $8-$15. There won't be a long wait for your food, and you can eat it in the restaurant or easily take it to go. We will be like Chipotle or Starbucks in ambiance.

Our food will be mostly free of peanuts, fish, and shellfish. That means that we won't ever use those ingredients, and we will make every effort to maintain a space that is free of those allergens, but if your allergy is extremely severe, we can't guarantee that our space has not been contaminated through unexpected methods.

Yes! We will open even if we do not meet our backer target. However, we will be able to open much sooner and start providing allergen-free food as early as spring 2012 if this seed funding campaign is successful.

For the highest quality and lowest chance of allergens, we will only use ingredients made in our space. That means our sauces, mixes, blends, and other bases for food and drink will come only from our facilities. This way, we know what goes into every single food offering and can guarantee that, from start to finish, your food is free of your allergens.
