About this project:

(Photo above by Cynthia Dobe)

When I met Adam Steinberg in 2001, I knew I'd met the person who would brilliantly produce and co-write the record I'd been writing and wanting to make for many years. The record, Mr. Heart, was executive-produced by a generous fan, released in 2002, and was met with kudos from many critics, reviewers, songwriting contests and fans. I released a live CD in 2004 which was recorded at performances during the two years following the release of Mr. Heart. When the time came for another studio effort, I found myself without the funds to do so and set about fundraising efforts through a grass-roots email campaign. By 2007, I raised enough money to begin recording and went into the studio to self-produce. After many months, it just wasn't coming together as I had hoped. I felt I didn't have all the right songs and decided to put the project aside until I could figure out the right direction. Shortly thereafter, after moving from NYC to Boston, I found work in real estate and continued to write and play out when the spirit moved. Finally, in 2009, the old adage, 'If it 'aint broke, don't fix it" reared it's head and I reached out to Adam, who I hadn't been in touch with for several years, to bridge the gap and set about making another studio record. The following year was spent writing and working on pre-production for what will finally be, "the new CD." On February 5-6, 2011, basic tracks were recorded at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, Massachusetts and I couldn't be happier with the outcome of those 2 days. The players include Sarab Singh from the band Harper Blynn on drums, Jeff St. Pierre on bass and Adam and me on guitars. We will continue to record and finish the CD at both Woolly Mammoth and Adam's home studio. The funds raised during this new campaign will pay for mixing and mastering, for pressing the CDs, and for the promotional efforts to allow this record to fly. Come fly away with me!

With the release of her CD Mr. Heart in 2002, Amy Fairchild came into her own. Critical acclaim gathered fast for this self-released effort. According to Steve Morse of the Boston Globe, Fairchild is on the verge of big things. In the words of rock critic Dave Marsh, "If there still was a recording industry, this would come out on a major label and would be such a big hit that you'd be sick of her by now. Not many people make records this good. Album Network says, "Reminiscent of Sheryl Crow, Fairchild effortlessly delivers natural lyrics and organic vocals while her band keeps it rocking. This stuff is really cool." The songs from Mr. Heart have gone on to win numerous songwriting awards including Maxell Song of the Year in 2002 (Falling Down) and first places prizes in the prestigious Billboard World Song Contest. among others.

Fairchild’s musical career began in Northampton, MA in 1994 with the release of her first CD “She’s Not Herself” which was voted “Album of the Year” by several local papers. She moved to New York City in 1997and immediately began performing and filling clubs throughout the city. In 2001 she met guitarist/producer and co-writer Adam Steinberg and Mr. Heart was born shortly thereafter. It featured Graham Maby (Joe Jackson, Natalie Merchant) and Sebastian Steinberg (Soul Coughing, Neil Finn) on bass, Gary Burke (Joe Jackson, Bob Dylan) on drums and Steinberg on electric guitar, keyboards and more. She currently resides in Boston, MA and has just completed basic sessions for this new studio effort using the proceeds from a grass roots fund raising campaign launched several years ago. Your help is needed for Phase II...bringing it to the people!
