Clanoftheredwolf

About this project

Ahoy!

Dragons, magic, nerds, morons, trolls, and elves that say ‘Bah!’ entirely too often. All of these things and more make up Clan of the Red Wolf. CotRW started as an online cartoon of self-contain stories. The videos can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/clanoftheredwolf .

You’ve seen what the show looks like, now a little bit more about what it is. The plot of Clan of the Red Wolf is surprisingly simple. Three twenty-something part time carnival workers and a seventeen year-old girlfriend, get on a roller coaster. For some reason (involving the King of France and a pet sloth), this roller coaster transports them to a world of magic and dragons, somewhat akin to the world represented by Dungeons & Dragons, where all the inhabitants are stupid jerks. All they want to do is get back home.

The web series featured various comedians from the Los Angeles comedy scene. The response to the web series was so overwhelming it caused me to write an entire season (13 episodes) of eleven minute episodes. After recording the voices for the first episode, and completing the first half of it, circumstances beyond anyone's control lost everything but the first three minutes of the pilot (as seen above), and the webisodes. Over a year's worth of work was gone. Now, we need to move forward.

Right now, the animation team is myself, my laptop, my portable recording studio, a copy of Photoshop and a copy of Sony Vegas. That needs to expand. That’s where you come in. Voices need to be re-recorded, animators need to be hired, bears need to be trained to stand on their heads (NOTE: Absolutely NO MONEY will be spent on training bears, it’s just a true fact I threw in there. I don't even know where to find bears, let alone how to train them to stand on their heads).

If you like the idea and what you’ve seen above, then by all means check out the donation doohickey over to the right, there. Any and all help would be loved. Forever. Like the kind of love they write about in greeting cards.

Who’s involved?

Well, first of all, myself, Doug Driesel Jr. You can read more about me on my bio. I do the brunt of the work, all of the writing (there is a fair amount of improv that goes on, due to the talent) and some of the voices. Meghan Parks plays the ladies in the first three minutes, and can be found weekly on the Upright Citizens Brigade theater in Los Angeles in darn near half the shows they put on and the upcoming Freak Dance. Other voices include Ed Galvez, as seen on the History of the Joke, 24, LonelyGirl15 and the internet’s awesomedude30.blip.tv; Kevin Ford, an accomplished improvisational and sketch performer and has appeared on numerous Funny or Die sketches and Team A.P.O.C.A.L.Y.P.S.E.; and Phil Ranta, creator of numerous award-winning shows, one of the winners of the 2009 Los Angeles Improv Festival.

Other actors have expressed interest and are signing on all the time. These performers have appeared on The Late Show, The Late, Late Show, Late Night, Comedy Central Presents, Live at Gotham, and many, many others.

We appreciate any help you can give us, and see you on the internet!

Love (remember, like in greeting cards),

Doug Driesel Jr.
