Well friends, this is it! It's Time to Take this Step...

This actually feels a lot more like a LEAP!

I'm finally gearing up to record my very first album.

I've been writing and giving away rough in-home recordings of my original songs for years but I've never recorded a professional CD.

I've gotten a couple of quality recordings over the years... For example, here's a song I wrote several years ago to begin processing the death of my mom.

I've been dragging my feet for quite some time, afraid to take seriously the importance of sharing these songs... but I know that I can't ignore this any longer.

This album is my heart's journey. It's a pursuit of truth. It's a story of brokenness, loss, courage, and profound redemption!

My hope is that this will be an album I can give away and let spread and impact lives for many years to come. This isn't something that I'm able to do on my own.

I'd like to invite you to consider helping make this a reality.

The songs are picked out. I've made a game plan with an amazing producer named Brian Whitman. Now all I need is the funding.

This one was professionally recorded and donated to a curriculum for women who have been sexually exploited through human-trafficking. Most of my very favorite songs have yet to be recorded well. Several of them have never even been heard.

What's Your Budget?

$1,000 kickstarter.com and bank processing fees

$2,500 album artwork, pressing CD's, cost of other incentives, shipping, etc.

$50 per hour for recording, mixing and mastering

I'd also like to pay other musicians/singers to help with the album.

$10,000 is actually on the lower end for creating a full-length professional album, and it's the bare minimum that I will need to complete my project.

If you exceed your goal, what will you do with the extra money?

Great question. If I exceed my goal, I will use any extra money to create a better album and record more songs.

What happens if you don't reach your goal in time?

If I don't raise my goal, I don't receive any money. No one is charged anything until I reach my entire funding goal. :)

Who is recording you?

Brian is a super cool and really talented guy who leads music a church right here in Downtown Phoenix. Here's a little snippet from an online bio:

Brian Whitman (musician, producer) began his foray into recording out of necessity. Playing in bands growing up in Chicago, the only way to get music recorded was to spend a ton of money or do it yourself. From a four-track tape recorder to 2 inch 24-track to limitless possibilities digitally, Brian understands itʼs about the song, not the technology.

Whitman has been playing music and recording for over 15 years, and becomes more passionate about it with each project. He has explored countless avenues on his journey through music. He has played guitar for Grammy winners Audio Adrenaline, All Star United, Matthew, Seven Day Jesus and was the singer/guitarist for Lackluster. He continues writing and recording his own music. His most recent solo project is his album “This Great Defeat”.

What songs will be on the album?

This album will include older songs that have never received a quality recording such as“Where I'm From” & “Your Creator.” It will also include newer songs that have rarely been heard and have never been recorded. For example, “Surgery,” “Love Me Love You,” “Eyes,” “Healing Hearts,” etc.

There will also be some special surprises.

Nope, you actually won't be charged until my campaign is over on February 25th.

Once I pledge, how will you know where to send my reward?

Once I (hopefully!!!) reach my goal, I will send a message to each of you asking for your contact info, so I can send you your packages when they're ready!
