Ganesh pendants going out

Update #11 · Dec 16, 2012 · comment

Hi, Everybody -

The Ganesh pendants for pledges of $100 and up have just arrived from Kathmandu, and are being mailed to you on Monday, December 17. Please keep an eye out for them and let me know if you don't get them. It's in the hands of the Post Office, but they should arrive before Christmas, as promised.

For those of you who may have missed the news, I've adopted one of my foster dogs. I wrote a series of articles about her rescue. They're archived at the Google+ 'About' page for The Dog in the Clouds, or in the 'About' tab on the facebook page. The series was titled Notes from a Rescue in Progress. My puppy's name is Roo, and she was a starved, wounded and frightened young dog who had been left to die. She's getting better every day.

There are updates for my travels with Roo and about The Dog in the Clouds on the G+ and facebook pages.

Thank you all again,

Brian

The Oldest Man Ever

Update #8 · May 31, 2012 · comment

Premiering tonight

The Oldest Man Ever, a short song-length montage of exactly what the title says. No one older than this 141-year-old man has ever been filmed. I traveled to one of the world's most remote places - with Orville the Labrador in tow - to meet him.

If you have any friends who might be interested in seeing Mr. Choudhary, just forward this email to them - ten bucks buys them a ticket and the box office closes at 6 PM Pacific.

I'll be sending out the desktop images and link and password to the video later when the campaign ends.

THANK YOU ALL for making this campaign a success.

$6000 and counting!

Update #7 · May 27, 2012 · 1 comment

We made it.

The funding goal has been reached. One cent under would have meant zilch. The $6000 goal was the minimum amount that could deliver the rewards with enough left over to prepare the materials for the e-book. The costs for scans and video are covered. It's a huge load off, and I have all of you to thank, deeply, for that.

More than anything, to me every pledge represents support for an idea that many people considered outlandish. About one in ten people didn't even recognize a dog in the clouds in that picture. One pilot at Santa Monica saw in that beautiful midnight cloudscape nothing but a sucker hole - a clearing through which injudicious pilots are lured to their deaths. I am more grateful for the support your backing signifies than I can tell you.

What's next

Reaching the funding goal doesn't mean it's over. There are four days left, and traditionally those four days are critical to any Kickstarter campaign.

Please let your friends know that it's now or never. It often takes an approaching deadline to get people to act. Remind them that if they have an Amazon account it only takes a second. Post it on facebook, email it, tweet it. As many of you have found out, your personal recommendations have been what got others to pull the trigger.

For those of you who still haven't checked out the facebook page, it's at http://facebook.com/thedogintheclouds, and that's where I'll be keeping things updated once the Kickstarter is over.

Thank you all for making this happen, and for all that your help means. I hope you all have Memorial Day weekends as good as you have made mine.
