Dear backers,

After a long succession of manufacturing disasters, protracted dispute claims and unforgivable delays (forgive us anyways?), the Magnets of Suspense are rolling off the conveyor belts en route to Alt Screen headquarters. Rewards will be packaged and shipped out next weekend, arriving sometime during the week of June 11th. Thank you for your generous support and much-needed patience.

As we are way off our original timetable, we'll be contacting each of you individually to confirm your shipping address remains the same.

Psst. P.S. In honor of our national conversation on bullying, Alt Screen will present a revival of Todd Solondz's break-out black comedy Welcome to the Dollhouse (in 35mm!) at this year's fourth-annual Northside Film Festival (Jun 14-21).

Darkly funny, slyly tender and endlessly quotable ("Who told you to fight back?"), this tragicomic portrait of middle-school hell has helped a lot of us come to terms with our adolescent traumas (we, too, were freaks). And unlike us, it never gets old. The original working title for Dollhouse was Faggots and Retards  – honestly, what more could you need to know? Here's the trailer:

The screening will be proceeded by a clips show from Derrick Bickles of TV Carnage fame. We didn't organinze this half of the program but are thrilled to be splitting the bill. One week in to our (almost) 3-week campaign and we've raised 30% of our goal. We're not so good at math but, hey, that sounds about right! Yet how our hearts do flutter as our rising pledge total starts to peter out, threatening to flat-line!

If you haven't already, please Like this page on Facebook and/or share it on Twitter. Email it to your friends or your favorite film-nerd listserv. Blog about it. Tumblr it, if that is in fact a verb. We need to increase visibility and maintain our presence, and we can't do that effectively or gracefully without you. Your personal endorsements are worth a bazillion Google Ads and SPAM-y social-media onslaughts combined.

New York's Channel 13 featured the Alt Screen Kickstarter campaign on their Metro Focus blog! "If you’re the type of person looking for films playing outside the multiplex and under the radar, there’s a place for you. It’s called Alt Screen and it’s an online hub of information about New York’s alternative cinemas.... 

"With former Village Voice critics and professional authors like Michael Atkinson and Sam Wasson, the writing on Alt Screen is indeed crisp and engaging. But perhaps the most exciting part of [the] Kickstarter project are the cinematic rewards."
