The Situation

This is the second full-length production by the Altruistic Theatre Company. A group of good-doer artists who have been fostering the works of playwrights and performers for the past three years, through one-act festivals and productions of short plays. We've made a business out of creating shows that raise money for good people, playwrights and organizations. Civilization! is a great home-made production that we are premiering in our first major festival, the Planet Connections Festivity this June. It's a big production for a little company like ours, but we have big hopes. 

The Play

Civilization! is a comedy. More than that it is an allegory for all of human development. More than that, it's a lot of fun.

Here's the synopsis: “Found adrift at sea, hallow-eyed and starved, Robin wakes in the hold of a ship. Two years before, Robin’s plane had crash landed near a deserted island, stranding him and five others. It’s the Airplane! version of Lord of the Flies; a cold look at society, as formed and remade by idiots.”

We had a bare-bones staging last June to incredibly satisfied audiences, but this year we want to do things right. This is an epic play and we feel that it deserves a more epic staging.

As it turns out, palm trees and thatch roof huts are wicked expensive. That's where you--our good-looking prospector donor--factor in. Help us make the most of this brilliant opportunity and bring a little something extra for our audiences to be thrilled by.
