By now, many of you have received your rewards and preorders promised to you for helping me make this dream a reality. If you still haven't gotten a copy, consider picking one up anywhere mp3s are sold (iTunes, Amazon, etc) or getting a physical one straight from me at http://allisonw.com/store. After all, the purpose of this project was to pay for the packaging, and though it ended up helping me fund the entire record, I must say that these digipaks came out looking hella tight.
Kickstarter was featured today in the New York Times' "2009: The Year In Ideas", and I was mentioned all throughout the piece. I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who backed me on this project, and thank you to Kickstarter for existing. This whole experience has done so much more for me than fund a record. I've learned so much about the power of the internet and the value of a supportive community. I love everyone!
Anyway. Sorry to get all sappy. New record is out. I'm going on tour next week. I'm ready to take this to the next level. This is only the beginning!!!

Hey Kickstarter backers! I bet you're wondering what I've been up to. Welly well well, I've been busy discovering that there sure are a lot of bases to cover when releasing an album the proper way. But I'm staying tough and making it happen! The physical copies of the album should be here in about a week, and here's where I show you the cover!
I’ll post a song when the preorder starts next week. Album comes out on 11/24. CD release parties 11/28 in New York City and 12/2 in Athens, GA. Spread the word!

Hey guys! I figured I should give you an update on what's been going down.
As of now, the record is in it's final stages of mixing. A couple weeks ago I left it in the hands of my friend and hero Dan Romer, who has been spending his spare time making it sound awesome. You might know him from the work he's done with Ingrid Michaelson and my good friends Jenny Owen Youngs and Bess Rogers. The man is a badass and is making me sound REALLY cool. Get ready!
I have spent the last 6 hours working on the first draft of the album artwork. If all goes according to plan, I could have this sent out for pressing in the next week! Right now I'm hoping for a November release, mostly 'cause I want to have some time to promote it after I get the physical discs in my hands. PLUS I have to have time to send out copies to all of you who are getting it early!
Anyway, stay tuned for more information.
OH! And thank you everyone who watched the Marathon live stream a couple weeks ago! It was fantastic. If you missed it you can still watch the recording over at http://allisonweiss.tv. Just click "Menu" and then "On Demand". I'm warning you though, it's 4.5 hours long.
And of course, everyone who donated is going to get a recording of the whole thing. I'll be posting it here when it's ready!
That's it for now. Talk to you soon!
XO

In celebration of reaching my goal on Kickstarter, I’ll be performing every song I’ve ever written LIVE from my living room on Sunday 8/30 at 5:00pm EST. Tune in to http://www.allisonweiss.tv, where you can chat with me, request songs, and have a blast.
Save the date! As of now, this is the official time…unless something crazy happens and I have to change the start hour. Get ready!
YES! Congratulations to me and to you, because this August you're going to get to watch me kill myself via playing 50+ songs in a row. That's right! Over 7k has officially been donated to my KickStarter fund and so I'm going to do a live-streamed marathon performance of every song I've ever written in celebration of the finale. It'll be you and me and a bunch of people you've never met, all chatting and watching me die, and we're going to have so much fun! BYOB!
Stay tuned for the exact date (it will probably be a Sunday afternoon in late August).
THANK YOU SO MUCH to everybody who donated. You're making dreams come true, you know. I really hope everyone likes the record I've (almost) made.
And as one more reward, I am going to record the audio of the entire marathon show and everyone who donated will receive a digital download of it. That's a shit ton of songs, you guys. If you want in on this super crazy collection of songs, you've got one more day to make a pledge and get your name on that list.
I love you. You're the best. Seriously!!!!
xoxo

Once upon a time there were three brave musicians from New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. Separately, they'd spent many long years honing their skills in songwriting and battle, until the time came for them to take the final step in their education. It was a journey of epic proportions; a common goal that brought the three together in a quest to spread awesome music. A Quest For Glory.
On July 31, Lelia Broussard, Bess Rogers and Allison Weiss will embark on a two week crusade to conquer cities, slay dragons, and most importantly, find glory. With their respective independent releases and energetic live performances, the trio have sparked attention and excitement among their fans, the music industry, and oppressed peasant villages, all who anxiously await their arrival.
Along the way, the ladies will fully document the adventure through QuestForGloryTour.com, Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube, so that the world may know of their pursuits. And it doesn't end there. Those villagers who make the pilgrimage to see each show will have a chance to achieve knighthood themselves.
And so it begins. Our heroes leave soon. Armed with catchy melodies, clever lyrics, and formidable guitar/jousting skills, these ladies challenge rock and roll to a duel to the death and win. They're ready for whatever obstacles may come their way, confident that the future brings only glory, music, and the adventure of a lifetime.
Hey pals! So this week should be the last we spend in the studio. So far we've got everything down except for two quieter acoustic tracks. The only thing left to do is record vocals, add some piano and tambourine here and there, and send it away to be mixed! Fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan and we can call it done before I leave for New York next Tuesday.
Also! Not sure if I updated on this yet, but we reached 6K which means two extra tracks are going to be added to the original 8! America voted, and the winning tunes are:
"Try To Understand"
"July 25, 2007"
Get excited!
Check out this article about me in Athens Banner-Herald (hometown paper). I talk about Kickstarter, the internet in general, and making the new record. Pretty cool!

I feel like it’s time for a studio update!
We began tracking last friday. Knocked out the drums that night and the bass the next day (my guys are like one-take wonders) and have since been working on acoustic guitars and some overdubs. Three songs are close to being done in that regard, still more work to do on some of the others.
The things that take the longest are when I take forever to choose the right keyboard sound because “this one sounds too much like a video game” or “right now it feels like I’m walking through a park on a sunny day in an old movie and I would rather it sound more like a pop punk song,” or when we track some really epic strings into the bridge and at first it sounds awesome but then I have second thoughts and decide that the song should probably have no ambience at all, or when I simply fuck up my guitar solo over and over until I hate myself. Basically it is all my fault.
That said, all of those things are also the most fun. Playing songs live is awesome because you just go with it and feel that shit and have a blast. Playing in the studio is awesome because you get to surprise people when they’re wearing big important headphones and hearing the little things.
Anyway, what do I know. Nothing. I know nothing about making records. But so far I’m excited about this one and I think you’re gonna like it too.
The week is over for now. Athfest starts tomorrow so I’m spending my weekend living the dream.
We go back into the studio on Monday to start and finish more overdubs and then begin on the two straight acoustic tracks. One is going to get recorded in this giant room down the hall from Nate’s place. Another might end up full of analog keyboards. WHO KNOWS.
Also, last night Nate told me that the building is haunted.
Great.
