We did it!
Thanks, everyone, for your support of the film! We've successfully completed our campaign and are working hard to putting those funds to good use.
Over the coming weeks, you'll receive emails from us asking for your mailing address, t-shirt and any other specifics related to your reward. So, stay tuned and we'll get those rewards out to you as soon as possible.
We'll also continue to provide you, our Kickstarter community, with up to date information on the film and Weiwei.
What's new with Weiwei?
Unfortunately, not much. His wife, Lu Qing, was granted short 20 minute visit on May 15th at an undisclosed location in Beijing. Reports from Chinese papers claim the government is nearing a firm tax evasion charge, but has not provided further details. Weiwei has been in police custody without formal charges for 58 days.
What's new with the film?
I participated in The Good Pitch at the Ford Foundation on May 20th, where it was announced that NEVER SORRY will receive funding from the Sundance Documentary Fund. We also talked outreach strategies with Human Rights in China, the Open Society Institute, the Guggenheim Museum, the Paley Center for Media and caught up with reps from Kickstarter about future collaboration. All in all, it was a great day.
Where can I send a screening request?
We've received a lot of screening requests and keep them coming! We won't be able to screen the film until after its premiere, but feel free to contact us if you'd like to see the film at your university, community center or institution. We'll do our best to make sure the film gets to you. You can also request a screening on our website.
Also, join us on Facebook and receive the most recent stories, news and updates about Ai Weiwei from the film and Weiwei's online community.
