Sweet, lo-fi songs recorded by trio of lovestruck goons. We're raising money to press them on lovely, colored vinyl.

Calico Beach Party is a trio of lovestruck goons from Seattle, WA: Alexis Hope, Matthew Garrison Longoria, and Kabir Vermouth. Together, we recorded an EP inspired by summertime, whiskey, and each other.

Why Kickstarter? You can listen to (and download!) the record for free on BandCamp but we'd love the opportunity to press our tunes on 12" colored vinyl, which we'll send to you and also distribute around Seattle. The 6-song EP will feature album art from the ever-awesome Cory Schmitz, and all of the backer names will be added to our liner notes.

About us: Matt and Alexis worked together at a coffee shop in Seattle, where they spent their long shifts talking about books and music and life. In 2009, Matt moved into a big, sunny house on Capitol Hill with Kabir. Alexis started going to Matt and Kabir's house to spend afternoons lazing about on their porch, and evenings drinking whiskey and singing songs. One day, Alexis recorded a simple song—White Whale—on her phone, brought it over to Matt and Kabir's house, and the three of them started working on more songs together. They recorded the songs at Trabant Coffee in Pioneer Square (where Matt and Alexis worked) and Kabir mixed and mastered them in his bedroom.

Seattle music blog Sound on the Sound says: "Seattle’s Calico Beach Party is perhaps my favorite form of melancholy - wrapped in the trappings of sunny pop, the tears and misery mulling just below the surface. Alexis Hope’s voice, warm and sad on a beach blanket of lo-fi throwback pop, aches with the duality of trying to keep it together in the face of another day and just wanting to break down and throw a few chairs out the window."

You Ain't No Picasso says: "CBP are a group whose vocals and instrumentals sound like they’re pulled from two different bands and slapped together — only in this case it works perfectly. “I Wanted to Build a Spaceship” is a Black Keys jam that’s interspersed with some Best Coast-esque vocals."

Help us make our music-making, record-pressing dreams come true! The Kickstarter will help us press 250 copies of our record (or more, depending on how much we raise!), which we will send to you and also distribute around Seattle.

All music and lyrics written and arranged by us. All instruments were tracked in a room with eighteen-foot ceilings. No reverb was added to them. Matt used only a floor-tom, snare drum and ride cymbal as drums.
