Game #8: Second Lead No Trump
This is a trick-taking game like Trumps, Bridge, and Hearts. BUT. It has a twist that has not been possible using the asymmetrical deck. The second lead is given the critical choice to follow the symbol or the number. Let that settle for a while as we go through the rules.
The objective for each round is to win as many tricks as you bid. The game objective is to get the highest score.
Game Start: This can be played by 3 or more players. Four players is recommended. All players must have the same number of cards at the beginning. Players review their cards to estimate how many tricks they can win.
Game Play and Terms
A trick consists of each player playing one card face up on the table. The number of cards a player starts with is the number of tricks in that round. The first player to play a card is the first lead and so on.
If the Second Lead chooses to follow the symbol, the trick is won by the player with the highest played card with the same symbol.
If the Second Lead chooses to follow the number, the trick is won by the last player to play a card with the same number.
If the Second Lead has no card to match the symbol or the number, they discard one card, and the choice goes to the third lead. Players cannot bluff in this version.

Bidding is done at the start of every round. Players bid using their cards face down. If a player wants to bid 10, they can use two cards with a 7 and a 3. After all facedown bids are done, players may make changes to their bids one card at a time. When all players are ready, the bid cards are exposed. In case of a tie, the player with more cards win the bidding. Therefore, bids with a zero is advantageous. Winning the bid gives the player the choice to become the first or second lead in the first trick.
Give or Take? If the total bid of the players is less than the total number of tricks (16 for 4 players), then it is a giving round. If the total bid is more than the total number of tricks, then it is a taking round. If they are equal, then the player who wins the bid decides to increase or decrease everyone's bid by one creating an artificial Give or Take round. Negative bids can happen this way.
Scoring: If a player "made the bid" they get zero points.
In a giving round (bids less than tricks), players with fewer tricks than bids add the difference to their score. Players with more tricks than bids subtract the difference to their score.
In a taking round (bids more than tricks), players with more tricks than bids add the difference to their score. Players with fewer tricks than bids subtract the difference to their score.
All or nothing option: Players who initially bid zero and made the bid gets plus 8. Players who bid all tricks (16 for 4 players) double their score if they made the bid.
Example
Anne bids a zero with 1 card
Bob bids a seven with 2 cards
Charlie bids a seven with 3 cards
Darwin bids a two with 1 card
In this case, Charlie wins the bid. She chooses to become second lead. Because the total bid is 16, she decreases everyone's bid by one making this a giving round. The new bids become: Anne -1, Bob 6, Charlie 6, Darwin 1. At the end of the round,
Anne won 2 tricks, scores -3
Bob won 8 tricks, scores -2
Charlie won 5 tricks, scores +1
Darwin won 1 trick, scores +0
