Thank You Card as Storied Object
Hi, I'm Ailian.
How often have you thought to yourself that you should send a thank you card? A real card, with a handwritten note, via snail mail. How often have you actually sent one?
In a world where it is so easy to drop someone an email, a text message, a note on their wall, an @, the thank you card still stands out. I want to help more people say thank you. I want more people to receive thank yous.
The thank you card is a storied object. When a thank you card is sent, there exists some kind of story between sender and recipient. The recipient did something wonderful for the sender, something worthy of the extra mile to send a thank you card. Without the card, that story still exists but that appreciation goes unexpressed. I want that appreciation to be shared.
This brings us to the Thank You Project. I'd like you to be a part of it.
How It Works
You:
- Back this project
- Send me your message for your recipient (you do not need to do this until the end of our fundraising, you can back the project now without recipients in mind)
And then I:
- Make the card
- Hand write your message on the inside
- Stamp and mail the card to your recipient
- As a token of my thanks to you for backing this project, I will also send you a postcard
Sound good?

FAQ
-
Yes! Regardless of where you (backer) are located, just add $2 for every card going to an international recipient.
-
I would say:
a) a letter in the mail is still more fun than an any electronic message (sms, email, fb).
b) what you lose in the handwritten-by-proxy you gain in being part of a project designed to send gratitude to lots of people. Also, most backers are sending only 1 to 3 cards. Pretty special to be picked as a recipient through the project! -
There will be a template to assist / inspire you.
-
Card is 5' x 7'. 80 lb. card stock. Cream colored.
-
If / when the project is funded, I will follow up with each backer to get your message, recipient info, address, etc. Think about who you want to thank in the mean time!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.

I used to be an investment banker. Then I decided I wanted to change the world and went to business school. At some point, I got frustrated with how school was too much about theory - writing the business plan - and not enough about action - launching the actual venture. This Kickstarter project is the latest expression of an impulse I've had to DO something.
I am fascinated by how entrepreneurial ventures of many, many kinds can change the world. I now live in startup land.
