To our backers,
First of all, myself and the entire production would like to thank you for your interest and support in our project, "Adeela." As you may know now, our project did not receive it's funding required through Kickstarter, therefore we do not receive any of the money that was donated to the project (it all goes back to you, the donor).
However, fear not, my good friends, for the project is not dead, quite the opposite. In the past couple of weeks the film has made several of big leaps and connections that have our team feeling very confident that we will still be receiving our funding and be able to make the project (it just will not be through Kickstarter).
Here's an update: Last week, the Huntington Beach Film Commission was kind enough to write a blog about us and put it on our website. The commission will also be helping us with finding locations. This advertisement has gotten a few local people interested in the project.
In the same week, we received a letter from the Washington Report on Middle Eastern Affairs (a magazine in Washington D.C.). They informed us that they will be giving us a half page, full color ad for free in their Jan/Feb issue. You can see the ad below. The magazine reaches over 40,000 readers monthly so this can prove to be very big for us.
Most importantly, we have the organization CAIR (one of the biggest Muslim American organizations) interested in the project as well. Both the Chicago and Los Angeles chapters have expressed interest in the project and will be looking to get some wheels moving for us at the start of the new year.
Yes, the project will most likely be postponed a little bit but we are still moving forward and moving very well at that. There are other plans that we have to raise funds and if you folks are still willing to donate the money that you pledged to us, you can do so at our website: AdeelaTheMovie.com (click on the "Donate" tab). We will still be offering rewards for donations.
On our website we will be crediting you for your donation and we'll be continuing to post updates on our progress in both fund raising and pre-production and production.
Once again, we thank you very much for your help, and if you are still willing to donate money or spread the word, we would be much appreciative.
