About this project
Although he is probably best known as a “living expert” on Eastern mysticism and Western Magick, before Lon Milo DuQuette became a famous Magician, he was a critically acclaimed recording artist on Epic Records. After a twenty five year hiatus, Lon resumed his career in 2005 when a Canadian documentary film director asked him to play some of his old tunes. Since then he has recorded two collections of new songs ("The White Album" and "The Black Album".) These collections were largely self-produced, sometimes using nothing more than a hand held recorder in an extra bedroom.
The popularity of these recordings and the subsequent demand for live performances inspired Lon to re-dedicate himself to making music as well as magic. The result of this re-dedication is the creation of some of his most beloved songs ever.
Lon would very much like to get this material preserved in a format that does justice to the songs and provides the best possible experience for future listeners. To accomplish this requires a recording space, sound engineers and equipment. Although these can be found at reasonable cost, they are not free.
An average track on a CD can take three to five hours to record and three or four to mix. It can also involve other musicians and, eventually, mastering and other services.
By careful stewardship of the funds we raise, we are hoping to keep our average cost of recording a song down to $500. We are hoping to raise enough money to cover the recording costs of at least eight new songs.
Lon's songs are both funny and sad, inspiring and whimsical, silly and serious. Above all, they are very entertaining and he'd like very much to give them a chance to live and reach as many people as possible. Whether you can afford $5, $50 or more, we'd be very grateful for anything you can give to help make these recordings, and Lon's dream, a reality.

For the last sixteen years my "day job" has been CEO of Data Fusion Technologies, Inc. I also interview musicians for Orange County Music Scene, play the piano and support artists and their art. Recently I created Agile Artist Management to help Lon DuQuette further his musical aspirations. Previously I've been a Board Member of the Chance Theater, promoted a summer series of singer/songwriter concerts, played keyboards in a "Hair" band (the musical) and once acted in a movie with John Doe, Chris D., Dave Alvin and others.
