Traveling to sci-fi and comic conventions we will explore the commonalities and differences of attendees and their experiences.
Our project is a documentary entitled A CONvoluted Story. As a production team, we will travel to at least four Sci-Fi/Comic conventions in 2012 (Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo, better known as C2E2, HeroesCon, New York Comic Con and DragonCon) and tell the story of these conventions from the perspective of the attendee. We will explore what draws people to conventions, what they experience once there, and what they take away from the journey. More to the point, we seek to celebrate the experience of being a geek among geeks. This story is also our story, as each of us feels a strong connection to and bond with geek/nerd culture. We all believe our lives are better for the books we’ve read, the movies and TV shows we’ve fallen in love with, and the friends we’ve made in this unique subculture. We are in need of assistance with equipment, travel, hotel and convention costs, as well as the cost of distributing the film when we have finished.
