In 1992 a group of 3 guys who called themselves Orbit Productions and their collective friends started a movement in San Antonio. Using the now defunct “Eclipse Records” as a map point, they sold wristbands and maps that led to a previously unknown location where 2 rooms filled with sound and lights became the first “underground rave” of it’s kind in the city. It was called Prophecy, and about 800 people made it one of the most memorable events in San Antonio’s dance music history.

20 years later and one of the original members of Orbit Productions is still here in San Antonio and is ready to commemorate the anniversary of that famed event. My name is Abe Novy and I have been a dj/promoter in SA since that night, aside from the last couple of years being a little “out of the game”. Regardless, my love for the electronic music scene has never faded and the chance to host a 20th Anniversary for Prophecy is something I don’t want to let pass me by.

That being said, the philosophy “Go Big or Don’t Go At All” is definitely where my mindset is, which is why I am looking to book the legendary DOC MARTIN of Sublevel Music. In the history of house music, few DJ’s are as well-travelled as Doc, with URB magazine mentioning 10+ years ago that he had racked up over 1,000,000 frequent flyer miles with all of the gigs he has played. His command of the turntable is like none others and over the years his mixes have become instant classics.

As a dj, discs such as “Flammable Liquid” and “Unlock Your Mind” changed my way of thinking not only musically, but in the mix as well. The last time I was able to see him was years ago in Austin, TX at the Austin Music Hall. I actually sat on the stage right next to him and got to watch him mix and work the crowd, which was amazing. At one point, near the end of his set, he leaned over, and laughing, he told me he had no idea what to mix with the track that was playing. Stunned, I watched him let the record end and there was literally no music playing. He then held up the next record and began pointing out at the crowd, as if to say, “This one’s for you Austin!!!” and the crowd just went nuts for it. He put the vinyl down, put the needle on and hit play and the crowd went back to dancing as if the music never stopped.

That, my friends, is legendary.

So please, help me help you. Let’s bring Doc to San Antonio for this awesome event and let’s pack the floor for him and let him show us the power of true house music.
