Hey, I just wanted to let you know that you have the opportunity to submit a 60-second video trailer of your show to http://www.fringeywards.org. Whichever trailer gains the most votes from the public between July 1 - August 4 wins $500! This could help significantly with the lost days at your jobs from performing.

Connected as Elizabeth Johnson (506 friends)

Your Mother Dances features the work of choreographer and founder Elizabeth Johnson as well as other prominent and emerging choreographers (Heinz Poll, David Parker, Sara Hook, Molly Rabinowitz, Erika Randall, Anna Sapozhnikov, Kelly Anderson, Monica Rodero, and Dan Schuchart among others). We wink at and defy clichéd and hierarchical stereotypes, particularly of dancers and women in all professional, social, and cultural spheres. The company name says it all: ironic “your mama” humor is juxtaposed with the potent reality that women dance artists are in fact hard working professionals and parents creatively and successfully juggling sometimes conflicting roles. Our alternative, innovative and creative approaches to our jobs and life in general make us vital contributors to our communities.

With the awareness of our intrinsic value, Your Mother Dances is committed to presenting potent, vivid, theatrical, and virtuosic dance works reflective of our seemingly irreconcilable characters. Our mission is to amplify marginalized voices by making work that reflects our multifaceted experiences. The dilemmas presented by the many hats we wear are reflected in dances that are satisfyingly physical and cerebral, intricate yet accessible, frank without self-righteousness, tragically funny, and ultimately reflective of our common efforts to somehow transcend the impossible expectations of modern life. Your Mother Dances, is committed to artistic integrity and dance art that engages rigorous embodied physicality, depth of thought, and relevant social dialogue and community involvement.
