“Witch City Soap”, A Halloween Web Series

The Zombie Queen calls for her Dominions. Then under the New Moon Spell, in the Darkest part of the night, She demands that the Necklace of Tituba be found and given to her. “Where is the Necklace?” Cried her minions. It is in Salem the Witch City. She finally whispered “Go NOW!”.

This is the fictional story of a magical battle between the ancient powers of VooDoo and the oldest, most ancient Witchcraft that exists in the United States. This will be set in the real world city of Salem, The Witch City. We will be using real Witches, Pagans, and ordinary folk from the city itself as well as guests from around the world as the performers and crew of this fun series for Halloween.

The main film creator, Magick TV has experience with web series, with almost 700 videos online, ranging from a few minutes, to several hours. Magick TV have done series such as Living the Wiccan Life, Tarot and Wicca Lessons, and the 9 part Dark Comedy The Doomsday show. This will be there first fully fictional project.

We will broadcast the Web Series, free of charge, every night starting September 28th and running daily until October 31st, 2010. Each broadcast segment will be a minimum of five minutes, with a focus of 7-8 minutes being preferred. If we have longer pieces, we will have a shorter 7-8 minute version as our main broadcast. It is possible with a higher level pledge funding, we can add extra segments.

Our methodology for this fictional world will be Improvisational acting around a core plot theme. We have key performers, who are writing scripts in the form of action cards, and plot points that have to be hit. Since we are long time gamers, we are thinking of this more in the terms of providing the game rules, and the performers act as part of a living game, as characters seeking to accomplish the task.

We envision that this world exists alongside the Muggle World, or as the Witches call the nonmagical, Cowans. The Cowans can see it from time to time, as we will be performing in the streets in front of real tourists. That is that those who do not practice should not see magic, but it happens anyway.

Our Actors (we use the word actors for all genders) will be volunteers except for a few key places, and even then they are getting only expenses covered. Since it is improvisational, we can add new actors at any time, and for periods of varying length. We currently need 12 roles to be filled, but we could have a cast much larger if we get enough volunteering actors and film crews. As stated, some of the actors will be real world Witches, Pagans, and other Groups who just love this sort of adventure programming.

As stated, we will post a new episode every night at or before the Stroke of Midnight in Salem.

When the series is complete, we will convert it into a Movie Miniseries, and make available on DVD and as a download. The DVD/Download will include extras. This Pledge Drive is to have the DVD’s made professionally. For everyone who pledges $25.00 will receive the DVD, mailed by November 15th, so you have it in time for Thanksgiving.

Any additional funding beyond will go towards improving editing, additional props, and most importantly, extra film time for our improvisational actors.

In our pledges, we plan to use a combination of access to more programming; access to tickets for events in October, as well as using distributing signed materials and props. As stated our core pledges will be as follows:

$5.00 Access to an Exclusive materials and previews online. Name will appear as supporter in the credits of one episode.

$25.00 All of the $5.00 pledge plus the “Witch City Soap” DVD, and access to Downloadable versions.
