About this project
Twitter is being used for many things. We believe Twitter can be a novel way to tell the stories of our past. We pick historical figures, especially those that kept detailed journals, and tweet their experiences. By doing this, followers get a feel for what has happened many years ago as if it was happening now, in real-time. In essence it becomes a virtual historical reenactment via Twitter.
While following our reenactments is educational, actually creating a historical reenactment is an excellent way for students to examine history, and really get to know historical figures. When creating an event, participants examine original sources, extract tweets, and put them in a timed system.
Currently it is difficult to create a historical reenactment. We want to provide a set of online tools that simplify this process. These tools and reenactments will be free for anybody to use.
