Update #13: Official Album Information
After what has seemed like an eternity of preparing for recording dates... we will finally enter the studio on Super Bowl Sunday to set up and begin groundwork on album #2. We are very excited to finally be making good on the opportunity you all gave us, and the extra motivation of not letting all you backers down has really kicked the music up a notch.
If you pledged for getting studio updates, they will be posted a little more fast and furiously in the coming weeks-- check your email accounts for an email from wearethequiet@gmail.com that has all the details.
Everyone else, we'll be posting various studio goodies for you as well here on the official Kickstarter page.
As for the record release date... we'll officially release on April 20th, with a big CD release show at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles that Saturday, April 24th. However, for Kickstarter backers, we will distribute digital copies of the album as soon as it is finished-- probably sometime in March-- as well as physical copies once we have them. Basically, the minute we have something to distribute to you... you're going to have it. And it will probably make you cry. Or it won't. Because you are a robot and/or don't have a heart.
Thanks so much everyone, and we'll talk to you/see you very soon!

That was AWESOME Brendan! Not only did you lose the beard - you went back in time- and YOUTHED!!!
(it is a word - just check out the Play Camelot with Richard Harris - Musician Actor and Beard!)
I am only disappointed you left out Steven Page and Ed Robertson in your Beard Tribute. -
RyRy on January 19, 2010
I just keep watching it. Again. I had to watch it before the next sentence. Man, beards are so awesome. And powerpoint beards, and Kenny Loggins beards, and Quiet beards... (sigh) man this kickstarter things has all been worth it. If only for the creative outlet for things like this. Fear not, Brendan... for where there was once a beard, there can only be opportunity for a bigger, better, and bushier beard to come. Amen.

Awesome. The music in the vid is catchy as hell too! Feels like an Iron Eagle 2 soundtrack or something.

Update #11: New Year Update!
Update #10: Kickstarter Celebration Party!!! (Help us pick a date)
Update #9: Looks Like We Made It...
Update #8: Madonna Sessions 4 of 5
Update #7: Madonna Sessions 3 of 5
Update #6: Madonna Sessions 2 of 5
Update #5: Madonna Sessions 1 of 5
Update #4: We've Made It!
You guys who have already pledged are absolutely amazing. We can't thank you enough, or express how humbled and honored we are that all of you have helped make this project possible. When we launched, I figured we'd be working for those 25 dollar bids, and would need 200 or so people pledging to the project... in the end, it only took 31 days and 64 of you. That's awesome.
So in the immortal words of the poet Axl Rose... "where do we go now?"
Well, for now, there's still 29 days left to raise funds!!! That means we're going to shoot for the moon and see how high we can get. So if you have friends that were thinking of pledging, it's still not too late. The more money we get, the higher quality we can go with the record. Every penny will be placed right back into the project, that's a guarantee.
In the meantime, Matt and I are working on a number of Madonna tunes that we'll get up for backers only ASAP-- probably next week (Matt's dusting off the ol' banjo). After that we'll start communicating with some of you about the covers you might want, and writing some of the original songs we need to work on for the high rollers club.
And most importantly, we're working on a list of songs to get ready for those of you that have pledged to be creative consultants. We're shooting to have rough demos ready for your votes shortly after the project ends-- that means taking our working list of nearly 30 songs down to a more manageable number, so we're on it.
Once again, thanks to everyone for getting us here. This is truly going to be an honor to make this record, and we're going to put our best collective foot forward to make all of you proud.
Brendan, Matt, Dave, & Dana
Update #3: The Madonna Project
Ok, so we're 475 dollars away from 50%, and 7 days away from halfway through this project. So it's time to ramp up the crazy and get some money flowing!!! How are we gonna do it? By setting up a side project within our project.
Here's the deal-- we're looking for 475 bucks (or more-- as much as we can raise within the next 7 days). If we hit this mini goal... I will perform and record a mini set of acoustic numbers by one of The Quiet's greatest influences... Madonna.
We will then post the set here as an update for backers only. It will be an embarrassment to us all-- but only YOU can make it possible by backing this project, or forwarding this onto friends, family members, co-workers, anyone that might have 10 bucks lying around to help us out.
Let's do this!

Funding Successful
This project successfully raised its funding goal on October 25, 2009.
Pledge $10 or more
A digital download of the album when released, plus your name will appear in a special digital thank you section on our website.
Pledge $25 or more
The above, plus an autographed copy of the physical CD when finished.
Pledge $50 or more
The above, plus you get a thank you in the actual physical liner notes of the CD, and a unique, yet to be designed, handmade t-shirt from the band that you can wear with pride, and make other people all jealous.
Pledge $100 or more
The above, plus you'll get exclusive video updates from the studio, or from wherever we might be at the moment, keeping you up to date with the progress. PLUS, you get the super exclusive (albeit handmade and relatively ugly) deluxe edition of the album, with the CD, and special DVD that will document and immortalize the entire project from start to finish.
Pledge $200 or more
The above... Except, instead of a thank you in the liner notes, you get a “Creative Consultant” credit. This means you'll get exclusive behind the scenes access in helping create the CD. Through a special site we'll set up, YOU will get to vote on demos and live recordings, helping us pick the songs we record. You'll get to submit suggestions for an album title, then vote for the final product title. You'll get to see album artwork and photos, helping us decide what should be used and what should never be seen again. In a sense, you get to be the 6th member of the band (depending on how donations go, you may be one of many 6th members of the band).
Pledge $300 or more
The above. Plus... we will record a cover of your choice, dedicate it to you, and upload it to YouTube. AND we will send you a mystery package of stuff from the band, packaged with love, which will include a handwritten thank you note. You could end up with actual handwritten lyric sheets from Brendan. You might end up with a lock of Dave's precious hair. You might just end up with an empty can of beer from our lockout and a gym sock. YOU WON'T KNOW UNTIL YOU OPEN YOUR MYSTERY PACKAGE!
Pledge $500 or more
All the above, plus, we will write a song about how freakin' awesome you are. We will then immortalize the song into the internets, post it on YouTube, so you can proceed to forward the song to everyone as a testament to just how awesome you are. Then we'll record the song as well, so you can load it onto ipods, zunes, and whatever else.
Pledge $1,000 or more
All the above, plus if you can get yourself to LA with a friend, you can join Brendan and Matt of The Quiet for a personal day out at the Disneyland resort -- that means Disneyland AND California Adventure.
Pledge $2,000 or more
All the above, PLUS, you can arrange a singing Quiet-gram to the location of your choice. Have a loved one you want to impress? Tell us where to go, and what you want us to play for them -- we'll have Brendan & Matt perform a special acoustic song just for them. Just want to make yourself look cool? We'll send Brendan and Matt to your home or office and they will tell you how awesome you are before serenading you with the song you are technically dedicating to yourself -- but we'll help you sell the lie that it came from someone else.
Pledge $5,000 or more
The above, however, instead of the Quiet-gram with just Brendan and Matt, all of The Quiet will come to your house and proceed to play an entire house concert for you, catered by The Quiet (while we might cook some food for it, odds are we'll just grab a taco platter from Del Taco or something on the way). YOU pick the setlist (doesn't even have to be Quiet songs). You get to invite whomever you want, and we'll just bring the noise. Or depending on your neighbors, the soft acoustic rock. If you don't want a concert at all, that's cool too. We'll just show up with some food and some of our favorite movies, and we'll have a movie night together. Though it will culminate in a screening of The Room, the worst/greatest movie ever made.
Pledge $10,000 or more
All the above, plus, Brendan will give you his share of publishing for a song. That's right. That's 1/5th ownership of a Quiet song that can be all yours!!! If it makes money someday... YOU get 1/5th of it. Well, it's technically a lot more complicated than that, but you will get the same amount of money from the song as the other band members. PLUS, you can come on out to the studio and play on the record. Maybe a tambourine. Maybe a hand clap. Maybe we'll just record you kicking Dave in the stomach.

“Los Angeles needs The Quiet. They have the capability to shake things up because they're not following any sort of predictable L.A. trend like corny Sunset Strip nostalgia or unwelcoming Silverlake snobbery.” – Rick Florino, Artist Direct, 7/18/09
The Quiet is a dynamic, original five-piece piano-pop band that draws comparisons to Ben Folds, Barenaked Ladies, and Elton John. With a solid, growing fan base responding to their diverse sound and high-energy live show, The Quiet regularly plays the Troubadour and has a monthly slot at Hollywood's trend-setting Hotel Café.
Happening upon a Hotel Café show, one music blogger writes: “Our search [for great music] culminated with an awesome band called The Quiet. The Quiet had one of the most entertaining performances I have ever seen.” –Hollywood Attic, 4/18/09
For the past two hockey seasons, The Quiet has played several VIP events for the LA King’s organization, and last year their music was featured on CBS's "Ghost Whisperer.”
Driven to broaden their LA fan base, The Quiet regularly plays a wide variety of SoCal venues, from Santa Barbara to San Diego, while maintaining strong sales of their well-received, first full-length album, "Greatest Hits.” Currently, The Quiet is working on raising funds for their second album via kickstarter.com.

Thanks guys. The pleasure was all ours. Great album by the way.
