THE BEDROOM WINDOW - A NEW MUSICAL
ABOUT
The Bedroom Window started out as a way for three good friends to keep in touch as we parted to attend three different universities. Having bonded in high school through our uncanny (and perhaps at times unhealthy) passion for the performing arts, writing a musical seemed like a good way to ensure that we touched base at least once a month. And thus, five and a half years ago, we made a pact to create a show using Peter Pan (J.M. Barrie's classic story), Michael Jackson (keep in mind, this was 5 years ago), and God (though not in the way you may think) as inspiration. Admittedly, there wasn't any serious progress made during those four years of separation, and while a loose story and ideas of characters took form, the show seemed to be more of an outlet for inside jokes and trips to Disneyland than anything else. Then, a year and a half ago, we all graduated from our respective universities and set our sights on the real world (yikes!), and even found ourselves united once again while residing in Los Angeles. It was then that The Bedroom Window really started to take form. Suddenly, we found that we had a story really worth sharing.
The Bedroom Window now exists in its entirety, complete with book, and a score of over 26 original songs. After receiving a lot of positive feedback and much encouragement following a successful weekend reading in August 2009, we decided that the next step would be to mount a full-fledged production to start sharing this story with audiences - and that's where you come in!
SYNOPSIS
Gwen, a young writer who is fresh out of graduate school, is poised and ready to start the next phase of her life that has been more or less scripted by her well-to-do family. She moves in with George, her longtime boyfriend and rising star in her father's company, just as has been intended for quite some time. As she returns to her old home, she is also reconnected with her old life, and the people in it – namely her brother, Johnny, and her best friend, Michael. Though they all want things to be like they were before she left two years before, they simply are not. Each has changed, some more than others, some in ways not welcomed, and they all struggle with the discrepancy between expectations, yearnings, and reality. In the midst of this less than ideal transition back into her old life, Gwen's world is turned on its head when she meets Porter, a carefree painter whose life philosophy is a stark contrast to the life on which she is about to embark – and as their romance blossoms she begins to nurture the true side of her that she was about to stifle with caviar and pearls.

WHERE WE STAND
We're in the process of polishing our script and have set the date for our world premier production! While we expect that the script and music will continue to evolve until our opening night, we've more or less completed the entire show.
Now we're setting our sights on making this premier production the best it can be, which includes bringing on a stellar design team and incredible actors and musicians.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
The money we raise will go to (a) hiring a design team to really bring life to the show (this includes a set designer, lighting designer, sound designer and costume designer), and (b) hiring actors and musicians who can really tell our story.
Our goal of $7,500 is the bare minimum that we need in order for this show to become a reality. Remember, if we don't make meet this goal, we don't get a cent, and you won't get any of the rewards.
We're SO close to being able to produce this show, and we need your help! We're just three twenty-somethings trying to survive as creative artists in Los Angeles who have a story to tell. A story that we deeply care about, and think you will too.
For more information about the show, please visit our website. www.TBWtheMusical.com
We thank you for your support! And we hope to see you at our world premier in August 2010!

SYNOPSIS:
Unsure that the path Gwen’s on will make her happy, the young writer finds herself blown off course when she meets Porter, an intriguing young man who is the embodiment of everything that her life currently lacks. As their two lives intertwine, Gwen becomes lost in an alternate reality in which she feels she is finally found. There is only one problem: her newfound freedom is in stark contrast to the life she is expected to lead – and to the businessman, George, she is expected to marry. When she is finally confronted with the brunt of her conflict, Gwen realizes she must make a decision that will not only dictate the entire course of her future, but ultimately the lives of those closest to her as well.
The Bedroom Window is a new musical that explores the sacrifices, necessities and choices involved in change and growth – in short, growing up.
