About this project
The Plaza Theatre, voted 'Orlando's Best Live Theatre,' is a family-friendly theatre house that has been a part of downtown Orlando since 1963. The historic theatre, once nicknamed the “rocking chair theatre,” has undergone major renovation and is now providing shows and performances for the entire family. The Plaza Theatre recognizes the value of art in the community and is doing it's part to ensure the arts are not lost but your help is needed.
The Plaza Theatre is currently producing The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, a contemporary and comedic musical rendition of the beloved tale written by Beatrix Potter. This is the first production that is being produced and directed completely in-house. The musical production is being put on as a way to save and promote the arts and bring families in the community together. In an effort to make the show affordable to all families, much of the production team will be volunteering their time and talents. Funds raised will be used to cover production expenses, improve the theatre, and enable The Plaza to continue to produce and direct shows in-house and sell tickets at an extremely low rate, creating the opportunity for all to enjoy and experience the Arts in Central Florida.
Each and every pledge made will directly contribute to The Plaza's effort to provide affordable shows in the Orlando community.
The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny will be shown in the smaller theatre Friday July 24 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, July 25, at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 26, at 2 p.m. Each show should bring in an audience of about 300-350 people.
Anyone who pledges will receive a number of VIP comps (to be determined by pledge amount) for the "private performance" on July 22 in which media, VIP, friends, and family will be invited to prescreen the musical and also attend a pre-show mixer event. Your pledge will also be recognized in a special page in our playbill, giving thanks to all contributors.
