About this project
Yes, your money will come to me, so that I can finish my c.d.! Kickstarter gives me 20 more days to raise $2,000. There’s no limit to how much I can raise, as pledges continue to be accepted until time expires, even after the funding goal has been reached. Anything above the 2,000 raised will cover production of my c.d. as well as video. We have an exciting story that needs to be told. The story has deeply enriched my song writing.
With Independence Day just around the corner: We are hoping the targeted funds will impact education of citizens as to a basic human rights, to practice worship and hospitality in your personal lives, within your property boundaries. Even powerful people often seem unaware that human rights are being encroached by Home Rule powers and zoning codes of their local government.
Masters Studios (Demetrios Masters) has finished 7 of the 10 songs on my new album. While you can find my vintage albums at: http://www.lauralarkins.com, if you e-mail me, at lauralarkins@aol.com, I can send you actual samples of the new songs being funded.
Album Contents proposed for music videos:
1. BLACK COFFEE is pop folk style, and will depict various isolated images lingering over a steaming brew, dreamy in thought, kayaking through the midst, riding in the rain, and then again, homeless people with a hot cup in hand..
2. KINGS ABOVE AND KINGS BELOW...No wonder why we're movin slooooow. This song is very fun pop folk, inspired by my friend Lloyd Martin, an excellent drummer, and very funny person in South Africa
3. MEET ME is a soul tune, and video will show any individual is welcomed out of a sordid background to the Lord's kindnesses.
4 UNDER THE RADAR is folk rock, and will show the joy of community by the end of the song
5 STAND SOME MORE is pop rock, and shows the need for civic standing against unjust government. Stand with the full armor and tell the truth.
6 GRIFFIN AND SABINE is an islandy/Londonary pop derivative of Nick Bantock's extraordinary correspondence into the golden mean. This is the most mystical song on the album.
7 RICHEST THINGS could be a featured on a chick flick. It will show sunsets, sunrises, human touch, running, joking, singing... these precious things are God's free gifts to humanity.
8 IN DEED is contemplative pop folk, and will show the drawing, erasing, perfecting, budgeting, prayerful, artistic process of constructing a private home to it's finished use.
9 SETTLE ME is a delightful pop jazz throw back about celebrating the event of coming home to someone special.
10 WORTHY is a velvety blues tune about the religious aspect of hospitality and bearing the cross as an honor of serving God.
11 NAOMI'S DANCE is the folk Hebrew story of Ruth's mother in law who looses everything, but is welcomed back into her community, and which ends up in a bawdy happy dance when a baby is born.
12 HOME SWEET HOME is a rock tango, about the sheets, curtains, kitchen, cleanliness, and duty to protect relationships in a home. A prayer is tucked into the bridge.
13. MY HOPE IS BUILT, an arrangement of an old hymn that has struck home lately for all the phrase means.
Annie Get Your Gun thematic artwork was designed by Charissa Ruby.
Really, it all makes sense where the spirit and the material world meet...
With Great Fondness, Laura

Connected as Laura Larkins
A blue note in a folk tune, a deedle-dee in a groovy rock tune....an idealist gone awry. Laura Larkins' third album continues to spin songs with melodic zings tucked into velvety vocals. Crossing genres in the eclectic style of Joni Mitchell, Laura's unique and classic jazz voice may also evoke Margo Timmins of Cowboy Junkies as well as Corinne Bailey Rae.
The practice of hospitality in her personal life on the wrong side of city government, has only made her tunes blossom so zanie bright. The only question this album begs is narrowly tailored: What makes a house a home? Lyrics with a hint of charity prop up the windows.
Her personal philosophy of Christian Realism parallels the writer's of the well known "Serenity Prayer," Reinhold Niebuhr.
It all makes sense where the spirit and the material world meet... in he golden mean. Just ask Griffin and Sabine.
