About this project

The show will be on Thursday, July 21st - NYC venue TBA - ALL AGES

My post for Warren Ellis: www.warrenellis.com

The post on BoingBoing: www.boingboing.net

Kim Boekbinder - The Impossible Girl - has played in venues all over the planet, from the seediest of dive bars in the American midwest to the most glorious concert halls on the planet (Sydney Opera House, Caesar's Palace, The Great American Music Hall, The Fillmore.) She has charmed audiences the world over with her music, her honesty, and her indelible live performance. And this time she wants to do a big amazing show in New York

Unimpressed with the usual prospect of getting booked into a standard music venue and shuttled onto and off stage just long enough to play a set, The Impossible Girl has decided to try something new: pre-selling the show, renting a venue and completely transforming the space to make an evening of art.

We need $1000 minimum to put on a truly fantastic Impossible Girl show. But the more the merrier so please invite your friends. The more people come, the more money we can put into making the show spectacular.

Everyone who attends will get a limited edition poster with art by Molly Crabapple and a 1" round button. If you aren't in NY and still want the poster and button I will ship it to you ($10 pledge option)

The show - Thursday, July 21st

The set list will be selections from The Impossible Girl album played solo and with guest musicians.

The stage will be decorated specifically for the show in an explosion of colors and textures.

ALL AGES! - this is a rare chance to get an all ages venue.

The event will be a night filled with surprise and wonder and joy.

Support acts and guest performers will abound.

The show will be webcast so everyone in the world (with internet) can enjoy.

The show will be recorded and everyone who pledges will get a free download.

Where the $$$ goes:

Renting a venue - space is EXPENSIVE in New York City. (The venue will probably in Brooklyn, but I'll look for the best space available in the best neighborhood.)

Hiring technicians and gear.

Hiring staff to run the show.

Posters - limited edition (every attendee gets one!)

Buttons (a.k.a badges) limited edition, every attendee gets one.

Support acts and other performers

Supplies for decorating

FAQ

  • As of July 11th there are 19 tickets left: http://www.kimboekbinder.com/store/tickets/

Last updated: Monday Jul 11, 11:53am EDT
  • I will book the perfect venue once I know how many people are coming. If 30 people are coming it will be a small amazing art space. If 200 people are coming I can book something bigger with lights and a stage. It will probably be in Brooklyn, though if I find a Manhattan venue I'll definitely book it there. UPDATE: The show will happen at the MakerBot Workshop in Brooklyn - 314 Dean st.

  • Yes!! Please add $5-$10 for international shipping. $5 for a poster and button - $10 for the t-shirt package (I know it's a lot, but shipping is expensive.)

  • Yes. All ages. Come!

Last updated: Monday Jul 11, 11:53am EDT
  • If you pledge $20 you can have two tickets. $30 for three tickets. $40 for four tickets... you see how this works? If you choose the $10 pledge but give me more money I will assume you are asking for more tickets and will put you down for as many tickets as you purchase.

  • Tickets will be held at the door. Your name will be on the list of persons with tickets. All you have to do is have a name and show up with it. You'll get your poster at the show (unless you ask me to ship it because you are somewhere else in the world.)

  • Simply because I can get a better venue on a Thursday night than I can on a weekend. Once I have a proven draw I can book whatever I want on any night of the week. But for now, we'll always have Thursday.
