PAX East and What you Can Expect
Tycho and I discuss some important tactical decisions on the table on Sunday at PAX East. The guy on the left there is named Vlad. I don't know if he's a backer, but if you get a chance to play with him, do. He was really fun.
PAX East
PAX East was amazing in no small part to Mantisking who ran Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack nonstop all day Saturday, threatening his vocal chords something fierce. Tycho came by several times and man, I think I really like that guy. He and his people have put together an amazing, positive event. Everything just feels so good. The Enforcers are an incredibly effective institution, endowed with the power to use their own judgment with executive power within their domains, and they make the whole event a uniquely intimate one, given that you're surrounded by tens of thousand of people. As far as I can tell, that's Tycho and Gabe's spirit filtering throughout the culture of the organization.
Input on an Upcoming Subsystem
I was gonna make this a stretch goal but didn't have time to during PAX: I want to give you guys the choice between two upcoming subsystems that I'll be putting into publication. Since I want to do both, I'll ask you which I should publish first.
- Transformation! On the one hand, transformation (like the Flag from Gundam 00 that turns from fighter plane to robot) is great fun. It's a neat feature of the genre. On the other hand, its actual tactical effect in a game is kind of hard to distill. We have some highly experimental rules but we're not happy with them yet. If this is what you guys want, I'd guess that it will take something like a year for us to be able to release it.
- Space battles! We've actually played with most of the rules we want to use. There are one or two tweaks that we want to try still, but this is a much simpler problem to solve. It would take place at two scales: one where you can have battles between mobile frames, and then one with big, naval-style space battles where mobile frames are too small to see on the table and just one kind of system a spacecraft can use.
This isn't really a vote. This is a qualitative discussion! I want to hear why you guys want one or another. You guys are obviously the early adopters of this system and that means your tastes and proclivities really matter to me.

PS I kept finding people who didn't know about the PAX special edition decals. That means I have a lot left. I'm not sure how to fairly distribute them, though, but I'd love to be able to give them away. I can only have so many frames in my Fruit Fucker Brigade, after all.
Below, an Ijad miner's frame has the cover it's been using, a medical shuttle, blasted away. This was during the demo in the Kickstarter Arcade with a little boy named Luke and his dad playing the Ijad. They won by the skin of their teeth because I gambled I'd be able to overtake them and lost that gamble!
