Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects.
At this very second, thousands of people are checking out projects
on Kickstarter. They're rallying around their friends' ideas, backing projects
from people they've long admired, and discovering things that make
them laugh and smile.
Every project is independently crafted, put to all-or-nothing funding,
and supported by friends, fans, and the public in return for rewards.
-
Independently crafted.
The filmmakers, musicians, artists, and designers you see on Kickstarter have complete control and responsibility over their own projects.
They spend weeks building their own project pages, shooting their own videos, and brainstorming
what to offer as rewards.
Rewards are things like a copy of what’s being made, a limited edition, or a custom experience related to the project. This isn’t Best Buy – rewards aren’t shrink-wrapped and ready to ship. Once the project is funded, the journey to bring them to life begins.
-
All-or-nothing funding.
Every project creator sets their project's funding goal and deadline.
If the project succeeds
in reaching its funding goal
all backers’ credit cards are charged
when
time expires.
If the project falls short no one is charged.
Since our launch in April 2009, more than 20,000 creative projects
have been successfully funded by awesome people from around the world.
But Kickstarter is about much more than money...
-
The big picture.
People come to Kickstarter to build community around their projects. It’s inspiring to be supported by people you know, and amazing to connect with strangers who are discovering your ideas for the first time.
The feedback, press, and love that can come with
a Kickstarter project are just as valuable as the money raised. Ask anyone who’s done it before. There’s nothing like it.
It's disappointing the books are moving so slow, but the other reason I backed this project was to support your volunteering in the Philippines. How did that go? You should update us on your trip, as well as the book.
Book never reached me :(
Thanks for the response! The last time the blog was updated was September 5th. I suppose not everyone has scanned their pages, but still with no updates I don't really understand where the books are at. How many people have had the books so far?
Hey! Sorry for the delay guys, the books are taking a long time to get from participant to participant but I'm hoping we can stick to the 2 day per person rule from now on! I'm going to remind the participants that have the books to send them out, but other than that I'm afraid I can't really speed up the process any more than that :( Thanks for being patient!
So, its been quite awhile. What is going on with the books?
How are the scrapbooks developing? I miss seeing the pictures uploaded. Is there an update for your backers? Thanks!
Hey Jonathan, the book is still going around. Check out the blog to follow it! http://scrapbookabookofmanyauthors.blogspot.com/
I never got my book
Hey Digby! You can follow the books through the blog at:

I'll be posting the pages and updates on where the books are!
Hiya Gaily, I was wondering where on the planet they are now, and when they'll get to the UK?! It's such a great idea and I'm chuffed to be part of it. :)
hey daniel! the books are in transit, check out the blog: http://scrapbookabookofmanyauthors.blogspot.com/
thanks for asking!
love this project. would love to contribute if another comes around.
What's the status of the books? Curious supporter wants to know.
too late....shame! Good luck with the books, will check the blog to see how it's evolving.
This is an exciting and wonderful project, I think your fundraising efforts are clever and lovely. I am so glad to have found this project!
Great, Now I have to go adjust my pledge. :)
Thanks for the awesome ability to own a virtual copy of the book.
Thanks so much for all the kind words and support!!
I love your projects! I wish that I was on Kickstarter sooner so that I could have participated in more. Best of Luck with you and all of your endeavors. Looking forward to taking part of the scrap-book.
You should consider publishing the piece when it's done. You could do it through a site like blurb.com or even start a new project on here to raise funds to have it published. You obviously have people who are interested in it!
Number 80! I backed your postcard project and love your shared art project ideas. Looking forward to getting the book...
I hope you can find a book big enough!
I'm an indy film maker with a project in developement. My project is called Puzzled and will be the last in a series of four shorts which will be shown at various festivals around the country. Currently, three of the shorts are complete and I need some financing to finish the fourth. We are doing a guerilla marketing campaign to raise funds offering perks for people who give us funding dollarsw. Since our target amount is small ($1900) we are offering investment packages for people who give us as little as $25. (Please see website for details.)
