Activists Josh and Rebecca Tickell are launching a ground-breaking event in LA that can reverse the devastating effects of the recent BP oil spill
Coordinating with the official DVD release of FUEL (a timely and prophetic film about America's need to get off oil) on June 22, Director Josh Tickell and Producer Rebecca Harrell Tickell are launching a ground-breaking event in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, currently home to the movers and shakers that can reverse the devastating effects of the recent BP oil spill. The "Get LA Off Oil" day will be attended by the Mayor, politicians, and local and national media. Designed to communicate the solutions outlined in the FUEL film, this collaboration will shed light on long-term renewable energy sources, including alternative fuels and mass transit for California. Following the press conference at City Hall, a critical mass eco-vehicle rally will parade to a screening of FUEL. Afterward, the first-ever Los Angeles discussion will be held by an expert panel delivering the solutions to the oil spill in the Gulf.
Supporting the message of the Los Angeles events, The FUEL team with Josh and Rebecca Tickell will immediately travel to the "other" LA -Louisiana- on June 29 for a peaceful march for clean energy. We are taking a big risk for our small business and sending our team, biodiesel bus and algae car to galvanize a community of thinkers, celebrities and oil industry experts to come together to write a white paper on the solution for the oil spill. Along with a handful of dedicated Louisiana and National NGO's, we will be hosting a small and mighty think tank with an international group of high level CEO's, politicians and scientists, followed by a tour of the disaster. The white paper we produce as a team will be signed by all involved and immediately circulated to the international media.
As a way to focus the media's attention on this, there will be a march through New Orleans with 1,100 people and a public art project of 1,100 people laying down in front of Jackson Square, collectively mourning the loss of animal life and America's shores. We'll be filming the march/demonstration and bayou tour in 3D with a consortium of documentary filmmakers, celebrities and members of the international press for our next movie called 'Spill, Baby, Spill'. Our goal for this film is to create a shift of focus toward solutions with the politicians, oil companies and a small group of people that have a big reach.
The FUEL team is looking to raise $10,000 to support the June events in Los Angeles and New Orleans. The money donated by backers will fund the entire combined events, including travel and airfare, PR in Los Angeles and New Orleans to connect our team with political officials, media, equipment for a high profile press conference, products for our human art project, funds for FUEL screenings in both cities, and to document and create a 30 minute 3D short film of the oil spill coverage. This is a labor of love and no funds will be kept by the FUEL team. We hope this event's funds will launch a governmental collaboration that will pull its resources into research and execution of alternative fuels. The time for clean energy is today!
