Update #3 · Aug 8, 2012 · 4 comments

Hey Everyone,

You may have realized we're running a little behind from our 10 day - post campaign - shipping out of finished kusudamas deadline. Turns out that estimate would have required Xander work under slave labor conditions, and it's summer so I just couldn't bring myself to do that ;)

I think we were just so excited in the beginning we didn't realize it takes about and hour to make each one, what with all the folding and pressing and glueing! I originally thought we could make 4-5 a day and in 10 days have everything finished! If anyone has any idea how to keep and 8 year old interested in one thing for 4-5 hours a day, and doesn't require duct taping him to the chair, please let me know :D

The good news is we have 50 of our 55 kusudamas finished. Only a few more left to go! They are piling up on the shelf above our desk. I have to admit I'm going to miss them, they're so pretty! The not - so - good news is we are leaving out of town on friday. The other good news is that I can, with confidence, say that by next week your kusudamas will be on their way to you! I will of course post and update to let you all know when they headed out.

Thanks so much for your patience!

Xander and Erica

Xander's doing great. I don't think any of us will die from waiting a few more days, as the comments here testify. They do look beautiful, but we don't want Xander do start hating his hobby, so he deserves breaks now and then. I hope when this is all over he'll still enjoy making them and won't be burned out.

      Thank you, Xander!

Yes, yes patient and excited. My first reaction when I remembered it was summertime "awwe those are pretty".
I just shared this campaign to some people who always poo'pood the idea of crowdfunding. Without this, we wouldn't be getting handmade coolness. And erica and xander wouldn't be having to stay inside so much :D
      Thank you.
